Priorities

The next morning Jamie had left the apartment at 5am, Eddie wasn't in until 8 so when Eddie got up she was alone. She got out of bed and made it quick before she went out to get coffee and eat.

She sat down with a bowl of cereal and her coffee, she trolled through her instagram, Facebook, etc. She saw a celebrity posted she was expecting, she looked so happy. Eddie wanted that, then she remembered last night and smiled. She opened her period tracker app to put in her recent sexual activity. Her calendar showed last night was only a low change of getting pregnant, where as today and the few following days after would be her higher chance days.

She realized she had to get to work and quickly finished her breakfast, got dressed and out the door. 

When she got in, she got changed and headed to roll call, Jamie walked by the the glass window and winked at her, she couldn't help but smile back at him, still thinking about last night. When she was done she headed to get coffee and hit the streets. Jamie caught up with her in the break room.

"Good morning" he said wrapping his right arm around her waist and kissing her head.

"Good morning" she smiled back and said.

"So do you feel pregnant?" He said quietly so no one would hear even though they were the only two in the room.

"Ha um no." Eddie said laughing, Jamie was half joking, he knew it wasn't really gonna be an overnight thing.

"Actually..." Eddie started to say but then stopped to make sure no one was around before she continued.

"So I looked at my app and yesterday was a low chance to conceive but today tomorrow and the next 3 days are high...sooo..." she smiled silly at Jamie as she stirred her coffee, waiting for him to finish her thought.

"Sooo were gonna be spending a lot of time between the sheets the next couple days is what your telling me?" Jamie laughed.

"Ya..!" She said smiling ear to ear blushing.

"Hey that's completely fine with me. I gotta get back to work, be safe out there." Jamie said leaving the room winking at Eddie. She got her coffee, left going the other way to find her partner and hit the streets.

It was almost the end of Jamie's tour when Eddie got back to the precinct with Rachel and a perp. Jamie was filing some paperwork at the front desk when he took notice Eddie had been back with someone he recognized.

"Ahh Rodney Clark." Jamie said looking at her guy. Eddie was confused at how Jamie knew his name.

"I brought him in 2 weeks ago for drug possession." Jamie said.

"Oh...wow, well... you really know how to keep us busy! Time to add drug trafficking to the list, caught him with 20 grams." Eddie said tossing it up in the counter for the evidence lab.

"Nice work Janko!" Jamie said and smiled proudly. Lieutenant Espinoza came over.

"Sergeant Reagan would you be interested in overtime tonight? Sitting outside Ferados house to stake out a murder threat going down tonight. You want in?" He asked him waiting for him to agree to it because it was a good opportunity. Eddie glared at him as she walked her perp back to central booking, not wanting him to do it because they had "plans". Jamie was stuck between a rock and a hard place.

"This ain't jeopardy Reagan yes or no?" His lieutenant said. Jamie panicked and just said he'd do it.

"Good. Be back here at 19 hundred hours." He said.

"Yes sir." Jamie said and he walked away. He checked his watch, his tour was over. He headed to the locker room to get changed and head home for a few hours before he had to be back. He was putting his pants on when you guessed it, Eddie came storming into the locker room.

"Babe." He said shaking his head that she just comes in.

"Jamie." She said back being a smart ass. He buckled his belt and looked at her. She was waiting for him to say if he was working tonight or not.

"You can't just bust in here Eddie, what if I wasn't the only one in here? And before you say you know no one is, you don't know, what if they're in the showers?" He said.

"I'm sorry. What did you tell Espinoza?" She asked curiously and changing the subject. Jamie was a little scared of how she was going to react.

"I said I'd do it." He said looking at her. She didn't say anything she just looked at him in disbelief.

"What..?" She asked.

"Eddie I can't turn down opportunities because you need to get laid tonight. I'm sorry. Besides you said we have the next couple days. I'm a sergeant for crying out loud." He felt terrible telling her but he had to. She was quiet, he didn't know what her reaction was going to be exactly.

"Okay. Your right." She said biting her tongue.
As mad as it made her she had to respect the job and Jamie's decisions. He was surprised she handled it that well.

"Thank you. I'll see you in the morning, I don't know how long this things gonna go. Maybe I'll surprise you and wake you up...if you'd still be up for it." He told her winking, and closing his locker ready to head out. He kissed Eddie quick who couldn't help but smile and left. She stood there for a minute soaking in what just happened and then left to get back to work.
