OUR LOVE

Chapter thirty-three

They say when you lose a loved one that they are gone from your sight but never from your heart. I tiredly pushed a mouthful of lucky charms into my mouth. I couldn't sleep last night because all I could think about was my father. At around two am I could hear the cries of my mom. I could tell she was trying to be quiet but with each cry but it only got louder and louder after each one. I got out of bed and walked over to her room. I quietly opened the door ajar and looked inside. She was sitting on the edge of the bed with her back facing me. She had one of my dad's suit jacket over her pyjamas. In front of her on the floor was a box which held some of my dad's belongings. I always see her open it on his anniversary but I'm sure she opens it a lot more than that. To her left was a numberm of pictures and her right hand was enclosed in a fist. I couldn't see what she was holding but my guess is that it was her wedding ring. I ended up sleeping with her in the same bed so we could both comfort each other.

I was pulled out of my thoughts when I heard the honk of veronicas car. I quickly got up and grabbed my bag and slung it over my right shoulder. I then picked up the flowers for my dad which were sitting on the table. Once I opened the door I saw both Steph and veronica standing outside the door.

"Hey, are you ok?" Steph asked
"Yeah I'm a little sad but I'll be fine" I said giving her a weak smile.
"We are really sorry S" veronica said rubbing my arm lightly in comfort. "Hug?"

I nodded and we all huddled together. I felt a single tear fall down from my eye. I'm so lucky to have friends like them. We stayed like that for a few more seconds until Steph pulled apart. "We better go before we are late for school"

"Yeah" I said in agreement and we all filed into the car. Once we arrived at school I decided to leave the flowers in the trunk of her car. We got to our lockers and did our normal routine of getting our books for the next few classes.

"So guess what?" Veronica smiled
"What?" I laughed
"You're meant to guess but whatever" she muttered "Josh asked me out on a date tomorrow night" she squealed
"That's great V but just be careful Ok?" I said.

After what happened these past few days I'm trying to forgive Josh but I really don't want a repeat of what happened to me to happen to my best friend too.

"Don't worry I'll be fine" she smiled and closed her locker
"So are you going to forgive him?" Steph asked
"I mean I will eventually but I don't know when" I shrugged
"And what about Aaron" veronica asked. I was about to answer when the hell rang. Saved by the bell.
"Gotta go bye" I rushed out and made my way to my first class of the day

At lunch

"God I'm starving. I'm pretty sure the whole English class could hear my stomach growling" I laughed
"When are you not hungry. You're so skinny but you eat so much" veronica said
"And that's on a fast metabolism" I said making all the girls laugh

We were walking towards our old table when Steph stopped me. "Ok so I know you and Aaron aren't on good terms right now but we were hoping that maybe we could sit at the boys table today." Steph explained
"Oh" Is all said as my face fell
"You know what nevermimd we can sit here in-"
"No it's fine plus you should be allowed to sit wherever you want so yeah i guess we can sit with them today" I shrugged
"Oh my God see I told you she wouldn't mind" Steph said to veronica. They both giggled and started making their way to the table and I followed behind them. We stopped in front of them making them stop eating.

"Do you guys mind if we sit here?" Veronica asked

Josh was the first to answer "Of course you can sit here". Veronica sat in front of josh. I sat to her left which was in front of Justin leaving Steph to sit in front of Aaron. You could tell it was awkward because nobody was talking, simply just eating their food.
