Chapter 5
FAITHS POV:
After I dropped the girls off to school I drove over to Starbucks.
I'm nervous.
This is the going to be the first time Tim and I have talked face to face for more than 3 minutes.
I pulled into the parking lot and noticed Tim's car was here.
He must already be inside.
I took a deep breath and then got out of the car.
I walked into the store and looked for Tim. He was sitting at a table by himself drinking coffee.
I went over and sat in the chair across from him.
"Hey." I said nervously. "Hey." He said.
"Do you want something? It's on me." He asked. "No, I'm fine. I already had coffee this morning. Thanks though." I said.
"I know this is weird, but I found out something." He said. "What did you find out?" I asked. "I, um, I have cancer." He said. I almost choked on air.
"Are you serious?" I asked. He nodded his head yes.
"When did you find out?" I asked. "Yesterday afternoon. The doctor said it was small. It's on my brain. I have to go to the doctor tomorrow morning." He said. "I'm.. I'm so sorry." I said.
He just sat there.
"Once I found out I took all the alcohol in the house and got rid of it. I want to spend more time with our daughters Faith." He said. I thought about it for a minute.
"I'll let you see them a little more. I don't want them to get confused. I don't want to tell them Tim. I can't break their hearts again." I said with tears in my eyes. "If you don't want them to know. That's fine. I just want to be able to do more with them." He said. I nodded. "I'll make sure it happens." I said and he smiled a little.
"Thanks, you don't know how much it means to me." He said. I smiled a little.
We said our goodbyes, but as Tim turned to leave I grabbed his arm.
"Tim?" I asked. "Yeah?" He asked. "Let me help you." I said. "Faith, I don't need money." He said. "I know. Let me be there for you. I want to go to your doctors appointments with you, and help you with some other stuff. No matter what happened in the past you don't deserve to go through this alone." I said.
He sighed.
"Faith. That's nice and all, but I don't want to cause trouble between you and your boyfriend. Plus I have family." He said. "Tim, your family lives out of state. And I'll tell Josh what's going on he will understand and trust me." I said. I couldn't let him go through this alone. I couldn't let anybody go through this alone.
"Fine. My doctors appointment is at 9 in the morning tomorrow." He said. "Okay, I'll pick you up." I said.
He sighed. "Fine. I'll see you then." He said. "Okay, bye." I said. "Bye." He said and then we went out to our cars.
