With their preparations complete, Emma and Ray stood on the threshold of their new adventure, bidding their farewells to their anxious family.
Emma, with a reassuring smile, assured them, "Well, then. We'll be back soon!" Her words couldn't mask the worry in her eyes as the children clung to her, their faces etched with concern.
"WAAH! EMMAAA!"
"If you get hurt, you can't hide it!" Chris said.
Emma nodded, "Right."
"You too, Ray!" Alicia ordered and he nodded.
"Roger." He said.
The display of affection and worry from their family members was touching, but it was starting to irritate Mister, who watched the scene unfold with crossed arms and an increasingly impatient expression.
"Mister, may I ask you something?" Gilda spoke up, "Please–bring them back to us safely."
Emma blinked in surprise at Gilda's request, "Gilda."
"I know this is a dangerous outing. For you, too. Something bad may happen that you can't escape–but, precisely for this reason. Even if something happens, you need to run back here. You must bring back at least one of them alive." She said.
"That's a request now?" Mister sighed, "Sorry girl, but just because you say something it doesn't–"
"No, it's not. It's my expectation of you. If you don't come back with at least one of them alive, I will personally destroy this shelter." She declared.
Gilda's declaration hung in the air, and the room grew tense. Mister, clearly taken aback, shot her a piercing glare.
Emma looked at Gilda with concern, and before she could say anything, Gilda pulled both Emma and Ray into a tight hug.
"You two must come back safe and sound! If even one of you dies, I'll never forgive you!"
Emma patted her back in assurance, "Yes."
And so, the trio embarked on what they had hoped would be a smooth and pleasant journey.
