The children pressed on, oblivious to the impending ambush that loomed in their path. As they cautiously advanced, their steps reverberated in the eerie silence of the underground tunnel.
"Just a little more—" Chris muttered, hope flickering in his eyes as he spotted a ladder leading to potential escape. Yet, his optimism quickly shattered as he beheld the horrifying sight of bloodied bodies tumbling from above, a gruesome testament to the peril that awaited them.
Frozen in terror, the children gazed upward, their eyes meeting the chilling gaze of a menacing figure poised to fire. A gunshot rang out, an imminent threat hurtling towards Chris. In a desperate surge of courage, Emma rushed to his side, yanking him out of harm's way just in the nick of time.
With their assailants closing in, Gillian and Nigel swiftly drew their weapons, their voices commanding and urgent, "Run!"
Ray shielded Emma and Chris, his heart racing with fear and determination. Emma, her hands trembling, checked on the wounded child, the grim realization dawning that the bullet had indeed found its mark.
"Chris... Chris!" Blood trickled down the child's forehead, his consciousness slipping away.
Gillian's sharp eyes analyzed the situation, "That guy was wearing a bulletproof vest."
Thoma and Lannion, petrified by the lifeless bodies strewn about, exchanged disbelieving glances, "No way..."
"These two are dead..."
"Can you hear me, dear cattle children?" A thunderous voice echoed from above, "I'm Andrew. And I've come to kill you all. I know you're still there. It's useless to hide. This past year and nine months, I've sought out your one and only remaining supporter and taken care of them. So of course, we'll have known the exact location of this shelter. We even know all about its internal structure. The exits are already locked down. Today, right here, you all will die. That's there to it." HAndrew ominously announced, his fingers clicking as he reloaded his gun, "Now please come out quietly. If you do that, I'll make it painless. "
The children were thrown into a state of panic, their fear evident in their hushed conversations and worried glances.
"Calmly, let everyone in the back know. The enemy is here. Be wary of your surroundings." Yuugo instructed urgently as the others passed on the message.
'What do we do here...?' Ray clenched his teeth, his brow furrowed in deep thought
'These guys came here with genuine killing intent. There's no way they're even thinking of capturing us alive. Well, I guess that's only natural. To the Ratri Clan, all of us are a blunder that absolutely cannot see the light of day.' Yuugo thought.
