   "WHAT?!"

The exclamation echoed through the room, sending ripples of surprise and disbelief. Ninelie, caught off guard by the sheer intensity of their reactions, watched as her companions expressed their astonishment. She delicately tugged on her bottom lip, a subtle gesture betraying her uncertainty. Their response was more dramatic than she had anticipated, considering the myriad trials they had collectively faced. The gravity of the situation hadn't prepared her for the magnitude of their shock.

"HUH?!" Don, in a state of incredulity, couldn't conceal his disbelief. "That little rascal is your brother?!" His words hung in the air, laden with surprise and a hint of disapproval.

Ninelie, a hesitant nod accentuating her admission, responded, "Yeah, why?"

   "WHAT?! HOLY SH-"

"REALLY?! That mature, foul-mouthed, and short-tempered brat is your brother?!" Emma, her eyes widening in a mixture of confusion and disbelief, pointed an accusatory finger at Clive.

Clive, his gaze initially bitter, locked onto Emma for precisely two seconds before seamlessly transitioning into an innocent, childlike demeanor.

"Did you see that just now?" Emma's voice trembled with urgency as she pointed back and forth between herself and Clive. "He just glared at me!"

Ninelie shifted her focus from Emma to her younger brother, who stood with raised brows, exuding an air of confusion.

"Did you give her a dirty look, Clive?" Ninelie inquired, seeking clarification. Clive, in response, politely declined, shaking his head from side to side.

"No, I was just confused," Clive explained, his eyes welling up with tears. "I've been kind to her all this time, so I'm not sure why she suddenly..."

He pursed his lips, lowering his head, tears welling up in his eyes. Anna, moved by compassion, patted him on the back as he sobbed, but Ninelie wasn't as easily swayed.

"That's not something you should do, Clive. Emma appears to have been through a lot." Ninelie turned her gaze towards Emma, who met it with grateful eyes.

"Did Emma do something to upset you?" Ninelie leaned casually against the table, her eyes fixed on her brother. "You can tell me the truth, and I won't get angry," she assured him.

"I've been wondering that, too..." Emma mumbled to herself.

The room was enveloped in an aura of intense curiosity as everyone focused on the unfolding drama. Clive remained silent, prompting Ninelie to decide that a private conversation was in order.

"Whatever it is, you should not be treating her in that manner. Emma is a member of our family, and she is older than you," Ninelie informed him with a hint of authority.
