The last day

Pain. I've never felt pain like this before.

"Lana, you're so beautiful" he exhaled, suspended over me, then bent down to kiss me, pulling the sheet over us.

Pain that makes it impossible to move. Impossible to breathe.

"Jungkook!" I ran to him at the airport. "You came to pick me up!"

"Of course I did. I missed you. How was Sweden? Save any lives?" He slung an arm around me and led me to the car.

Pain that makes it seem impossible to go on living anymore.

"Are you Lana Channing?" The police officer asked.

"I— yes. Where's Jungkook?" I asked, worried, pulling the robe tighter around me. I looked to see what he was holding. "Why do you have his jacket?"

"I'm sorry, ma'am. Your boyfriend was in a fatal car accident at the airport. He... I'm afraid he won't make it home."

"Is he ok?" I asked, already knowing the answer.

"No, ma'am. He's gone. I'm sorry for your loss."

Pain that makes you question if maybe it's better to just end it all right there, just so you don't have to feel this way again.

"Lana?" A voice said in the doorway.

"Jungkook?" I asked, trying to see through my vision blurred with tears. I sat curled up against the bed, robe over my knees.

"I'm Jimin. I came as soon as I heard."

The pain that comes from losing someone you love.

"Lana, there's one more thing I want you to promise me." Jungkook said sadly.

"What is it?" I asked, scared.

"Lana, if I die–"

"You won't." I told him firmly.

"Lana, if I die, I need you to promise me you'll move on." He said, a tear running down his cheek.

"Kookie." I said gently. "You're not going to die."

"Just promise." His voice cracked.

I sighed. "Ok Kook, I promise."
