Thomas nodded slowly as he watched the scaled boy tear the Imperial insignia from the freighter. "He and the small boy definitely seem able to use the force. What about audio? There are so many discussions they have, we need to know more about them."
"Master Sanders, I hope not to intrude when I say this, but do you know them?" Logan ventured cautiously. Thomas had watched the video twice, and his reaction had been the same each time. Thoughtful observation with regular commentary.
The general shook his head. "I do not. I want you to get this chip to the technicians, they'll work a way to get the sound back."
Roman nodded, taking the chip and the video vanished. He left the room, followed by Logan. Patton went tot rail after them when he felt Thomas grab his arm.
"Freeson, I must speak with you."
.:*:.
Roman dropped the chip in the hands of Terrence. "General Thomas wants you to work in some audio. It should be saved onto the chip but we just couldn't get it to work back on Exegol."
Terrence hummed, nodding his head as he moved over to a large worktop. "So, how was Exegol?" He asked.
"Fascinating!" Claimed Logan. "The atmosphere was smoky on the lower levels and it was truly impossible to tell which way was up and down. We're lucky we had F-2 on our way out, Roman nearly nose-dived us into the ground."
Roman's' cheeks flushed. "It was hard to see!" He defended hotly.
"Wow, not even the great Roman Nova could pilot his way through Exegol without a droid!" Joked Terrence, slipping a shaded visor over his eyes. The other two turned their backs when he started to cut open the chip using heat. "That bad?"
"It truly was," Roman said. "The wreckage was amazing too. Almost everything was black and made out of stone. It was crazy!"
Terrence nodded, pulling back from the chip as he swept up his visor again. "I can believe that. You're the first people to come back from Exegol alive in twelve years, y'know!"
Logan nodded. "We know. Nova wouldn't shut up about it on the way home."
"Hey, I was excited, Croftstar, shut up!" Roman gasped, shoving his friend grumpily.
Terrence laughed at the antics of the two men, a small spider-droid dashing to his aid as he started to take out several parts using delicate tweezers. "You and Patton are a real piece of work, did you know that?"
Logan tilted his head. "What do you mean?"
"I mean, every time you get knocked down, you run off and then come back with something that puts you on a higher pedestal. No matter how pissed the general is, you come back with a reason for him to love you and then you're his favourites again!" Terrence smirked, glancing up from his work briefly, screws resting in his palm.
"We're his favourites?" Frowned Roman. "News to me!"
Terrence snorted. "You know all the cameras saw you sneak into the trophy room, right? No one wanted to stop you because the general would've defended you. That's why none of you three are fired yet, you're all just too important, apparently." Terrence was the head engineer of the New Republic, roughly seven years older than them, making him twenty-seven. Incredibly young for such an incredible position, but the New Republic had been recently born for such a strong organisation. His skin was dark and his voice was warm, everyone's' best friend on this cold, horrid planet. Terrence also happened to be one of the closest of the general's' friends, probably a reason for how he'd reached such a great position.
Roman blinked slowly. "What do you mean by 'too important'?"
"Thomas had a vision while training with Master Rey. It showed you three and three others, although they were shrouded in mist. And the Sith's' symbol was on a flag," Terrence faced them properly now, the droids working hurriedly behind him. "You all raised your hands to the sky and it burnt down and turned to liquid beneath your feet. Master Rey believed it meant the permanent death of the Sith."
Logan turned to face Roman. "Why would the general have a vision about you, Patton and I? We can't be that important, we're just people!"
"Hah!" Laughed Terrence. "That's what all the heroes say, Logan. Luke Skywalker, Leia Organa, Han Solo, Anakin Skywalker and even Rey Skywalker herself. No one expects fame. It just happens sometimes." The engineer turned back to the downloading chip, working away quietly.
They stood in silence for a painfully long time, although it was truly just a few minutes. Then Terrence spun around again, the chip sitting in his palm.
"Thanks, Terrence," Roman said, pocketing it. "We'll take this to the general, now."
Terrence grinned. "You do that. Tell Thomas I said hi!"
.:*:.
Thomas plugged in the chip in front of all the generals, commanders and important people as well as Patton, Roman and Logan.
It whirred silently and then played. The video was zoomed in slightly, the boys more in focus and you could hear lightning in the background.
"We have to go! Emperess Palpatine will kill us, just like she's killed Darth Sidious!" Said the scaled one. A murmur went around the room, dark whisperings heard from every corner of the room.
"But, Janus!" The other whined, in a voice that was petulant. "I found something!"
"No time, Remus! We have to leave!"
"Janus-!"
A small sob could be heard faintly and the scaled boy paused. "Is that a child? I didn't know there were other children here."
"That's the thing I found!" The unremarkable one, Remus, smiled.
"You could have told me you found a human child." Remus shrugged and the room shuddered again. A boulder fell from off-camera and Janus raised his hand, forcing it to freeze in mid-air. "Where are they?"
The room watched captivated as the boys found the pillar and the boy trapped beneath it.
Remus remarked, "Do you think he has a nametag?" Which caused both Patton and Roman to laugh slightly, muffling their amusement in their palms. Logan rolled his eyes.
The gathered people watched until the footage had played out and Thomas turned to them. "My friends, this video has confirmed it. Darth Sidious had an apprentice who survived the Fall of Exegol and could possibly have taken on the youngest boy we saw as his own trainee. The Sith have returned."
Everyone began speaking, yelling, shouting in fear, voicing horrors and terrors of wars long ago of an order that had wiped nearly all of the Jedi, a giant space station that destroyed a planet called Alderan and Kylo Ren's' Star Destroyer. Patton quivered with nerves and Thomas scowled.
"Silence. Silence!" He cried and the room fell silent. "Look at us, scared at the mention of a Sith pair that has done nothing these past twelve years. The boys could be uninterested in us or missing or worse."
"But, general, how do we know they aren't lying in the shadows?" Asked an officer. "It's happened before and it destroyed the Jedi Order!"
Thomas narrowed his eyes. "That won't happen this time. Roman, Logan. I have already talked to Patton about this. Stand, you three."
They did, nervously rising to their feet.
"You three are to find these Sith and whoever is siding with them. You cannot let anyone reach them before us." He moved over, placing his hand on Patton's' shoulder, keeping eye contact with Logan but facing Roman. "You are now officially the New Republican Sith Hunters."
