Bakugou pov
I wasn't really sure what was going on anymore. My hearing aids were slowly breaking over the course of the day and they were pretty much useless at this point. Shitty devices, you're supposed to help me hear, not make my hearing worse!
We were sitting down to eat and I was sitting with my back to the rest of the mall while Kirishima sat in a booth in front of me. He started to look at something behind me and before I could ask what he was looking at, his eyes went big and he looked as if he had seen a ghost. He completely froze and I was starting to get worried. Just as I was about to say something, he got up and started to run.
Jesus Christ Kirishima, how much can you run in a day? I quickly got up and ran after him, leaving our food unattended. I didn't really care though, seeing as someone was running and I just so happened to know that person. I chased him as he ran into the bathroom. I lost sight of him as he turned the corner to get in. I walked around but he wasn't washing his hands so he had to have run into one of the stalls. I walked through the bathroom once more, this time looking for the bright red converse that he was wearing. I found them easily, since they stood out like a sore thumb.
"Oi, Shitty Hair!" I yelled. Or, I think I yelled. I couldn't hear it. "Get out here!"
I waited a bit but he made no move to come out. "Shitty Hair, I know you're in there so open this damn door!" I was getting increasingly frustrated. I just wanted to help him but I couldn't unless he opened the door.
"Kirishima! GET OUT OF THE STALL!!" I yelled even louder. I could see a few people staring at me as I pounded on the stall door but they just backed out of the bathroom slowly, as if not to scare me. I sent a glare towards them and they ran. I turned my attention back to the closed stall door. It didn't seem like Kirishima would ever come out. I ended up just plopping down onto the floor and scrolling through my phone while I waited for him to come out.
Kirishima POV (pov change brought to you by Bakugou's spiky hair)
I just had to run into her of all people, didn't I! I was currently sitting on the toilet in the men's bathroom at the mall, about to have a panic attack. This was all caused by seeing my ex for the first time since we broke up.
The thought of my ex made my thoughts run wild. Why did I have to see her right now I mean honestly she just had to be here today I wanted to stay away from her for as long as possible but she just had to show up at the worst of times and I saw her and now I'm sitting in a stall having a panic attack just because I saw her I'm so pathetic I can't even see my ex without breaking down how could I have survived this long I should just deal with this and then kill myself wait no that's not a good idea but I know it's true even though it's not... wait I came here with Bakugou I wonder where he is oh god he must be looking for me and I just ditched him he must be furious seriously man we could have been friends but I had to go and blow it by having a panic attack in the middle of a mall oh god I'm in public people can hear me hyperventilating shit they must think I'm insane or something!
My thoughts just went on and on like this for a while. At one point, I faintly heard someone yelling from outside the stall but my brain was too preoccupied with my inner thoughts to process what was being said. I eventually calmed down and tried to stand up, only to fall because I was so light headed. I grabbed onto the wall for support and tried again, this time actually standing. I opened the stall door and immediately heard a grunt come from the floor. Am I going insane? I looked down and on the floor was Bakugou. He was rubbing his arm and it seemed like he was sitting against the door when I opened it. He looked up at me, clearly pretty grumpy.
"Tch," He looked away right after saying that, and I just stood there rubbing the back of my neck. I was pretty embarrassed that he had to witness that. "What time is it?" I wondered how long the panic attack went on for. I usually don't have any sense of time when they happen. He didn't respond to my question. He didn't even make any move to show me that he heard me! I tried again, this time a little louder. "What time is it?!" He looked at me confused for a second after I asked that.
"What?!" He genuinely looked as if he didn't hear me at all, which is weird considering we're right beside each other.
"What time is it?" I went back to my normal voice when I said it.
"Speak UP Hair for brains you know I can't hear a word you said!!"
"WHAT TIME IS IT?!" I practically yelled. It wasn't because I was angry or anything, I was just seriously starting to think that this guy was deaf or something. (haha wouldn't you know it) Bakugou finally seemed to understand me and checked his phone.
"It's 6 pm." He put his phone back into his pocket as he stood up. He walked towards the sinks, probably to wash his hands from touching the dirty bathroom floor, and I followed him. As he washed his hands, he mumbled stuff under his breath. He seemed grumpy and his face was in a scowl. I tried to hear what he was saying but it was hard with the water running. I did catch a few words though. Something about needing new hearing aids.
"Wait, you need hearing aids!?" I exclaimed. I honestly didn't know that.
"Yeah, I'm deaf Hair for brains I can't hear shit."
"What!? Since when?!"
"What?"
"Nevermind." I finished washing my hands and face while thinking about him. It makes so much sense now! He's always yelling, he seems to never hear me the first time around, and he's never looked me in the eyes while I'm talking! Of course he's deaf, how come I didn't realise it sooner!?
"Hey Bakugou, can we get ice-cream? There's this new place that just opened up and I want to go try it out!"
"Okay, but I'm not paying Shitty Hair."
We made our way towards the Ice cream parlour silently. I was lost in thought and I don't think Bakugou wanted to make conversation either, since he didn't make any attempts at it. We made it to the parlour and I ordered two scoops, one vanilla and one strawberry, in a cup and Bakugou ordered one scoop of rocky road in a waffle cone. We took our ice cream and walked outside since there was a small park across the street from the mall. We sat down on a bench that was in front of a fountain to eat.
"So, what was that all about?" Bakugou grumbled towards me.
"What do you mean?" I acted oblivious since I kind of didn't want to answer the question.
"You know DAMN WELL what I'm talking about Shitty Hair!" He was looking me dead in the eyes at this point, and I was getting a little nervous. He clearly wasn't dropping the subject so I just sighed in defeat.
"Oh, that... Uraraka's an old ex and I guess I just got overwhelmed seeing her again..."
"Wait, Uraraka Ochaco? She was in the mall?"
"Yeah, did you not see her? Are you really that short?"
"SHUT IT SHITTY HAIR, IT'S NOT LIKE YOU'RE THAT MUCH TALLER THAN ME!"
"Ok ok! I give up, please don't hurt me!" I said through laughs.
The rest of the time we spent together that day was filled with light banter and joking around. I almost got thrown into the fountain at one point for making Bakugou angry again, but he calmed down before he could do it. It was late and it was starting to get cold and I left my hoodie at home, thinking that it wouldn't be that cold today. It was a solid plan, except that I forgot that it gets colder when it's late. I was shivering by the end of the day and I still had to walk home.
"Hey Bakugou, I have to get going since it's late and I don't really want to walk home in pitch black darkness," I said while standing up from the bench. Just as I was doing that, a strong gust of wind hit me and I heard my teeth start to chatter. Bakugou just sighed and I felt something warm around my shoulders. I looked at him and he had taken off his varsity jacket and given it to me.
"Hey, won't you be cold?" He was wearing just a tee shirt now.
"Do you want me to take back my jacket?"
"You know what, you'll be fine."
I pulled Bakugou in for a bro hug, to which he tried to get away but I wouldn't let him. I slipped a little note I made a while ago into the back pocket in his jeans which had my phone number on it. I just hoped this wouldn't be the last time I see him. He seemed like a cool guy and I wanted to become better friends with him.
Once I pulled away, He walked off, probably towards his home, and I started to walk home too.
