"No. I don't care. I'm not letting him come home with me," the detective announced, his feet up on his desk as he talked on his phone. "Because it's weird! I don't know if he sleeps or if he's just gonna be watching me all night....Yeah yeah I get that but...Tina, I don't want him in my apartment!....I know I know. I already asked. But Fowler is just being a dick again..."
All this was being said as Nines listened, sat across from him with his arms crossed; an un-amused look on his face.
"I can handle him being my partner, but-....Oh so you're on Fowler's side now?" there was a long pause. "....I'm not lonely...."
"I hate to interrupt your conversation, detective. But can we get going?" he asked, tilting his head impatiently.
"Look Tina, I gotta go. But I still don't-....She hung up," he pocketed his phone. "Now what was it you were saying, tin can?"
"It's late. We should get going," he repeated as he stood up, walking over to the other.
"Do we have to? I mean, you could just stay here like you normally do, I don't see why-"
"I have been instructed to accompany you to your home, whether you like it or not. So stop pouting, and get up. Or am I going to have to make you?" he threatened, shooting a glare Gavin's way.

"Don't fucking talk to me like that," he snapped back, rising.
"I'll talk to you how ever I please, detective. Now are you driving, or shall I?" he stepped closer to Gavin, asserting dominance. Gavin gritted his teeth, staring up at the android.
"Whatever," he grabbed his keys, leaving the office, and slamming the door behind him. Nines followed after, running his hand through his synthetic hair.

The car ride home was silent, aside from Gavin's occasional off-comments about Nines.
Gavin unlocked his apartment door, tossing his keys on the coffee table. Nines scanned the apartment, noting the messy coffee table, dirty dishes, and an alarming amount of coffee mugs scattered about.
"I'll be in my room. Don't bother me," he slammed the door again.
Nines checked the time. 10:30. He was about to sit down at the counter, but he was just too agitated with the messy apartment.
For the next few minutes, Nines spent his time cleaning and organizing. Though many would be annoyed, Nines enjoyed these simple tasks. By 10:40, the apartment had a completely new look.
Gavin opened the door, having overheard the cleaning Nines had done.
"What the hell are you doing out here? I'm trying to sleep," he stepped out, wearing just boxers and a t-shirt. "What the...Did you clean my living room?"
"Well I had to detective. It was borderline unlivable," he explained.
" 'Unlivable'." he rolled his eyes.
"You should be thankful, Reed," he caught a glance of Gavin's bedroom through the cracked door. "Do you mind if I clean your bedroom as well?"
Gavin furrowed his eyebrows. "Why? You tryna be my maid or something?" he teased.
"Well if I'm going to be living here I'd like to be comfortable."
Gavin's room was getting messy. He kept telling himself that he'd get to it, but let's face it he never would. It would be nice to have someone do all the work for him.
"Fine," he shook his head. "But don't be loud. I'm still gonna try to sleep," he turned back into his room, flopping down onto his bed.
Nines followed, immediately getting to work.
"So," Gavin rolled over, resting on his back. "Where are you gonna sleep? Or, do you sleep...?"
"I can. But its not necessary."
Gavin rolled onto his side.
"So what, are you just gonna stand there all night?" he caught a glimpse of Nines' behind as he bent over to pick something up.
"I could. If you'd like, I could watch over you all night."
"No no. That's just fucking creepy..." he watched as Nines picked up the last piece of trash and throw it away.
"Well. Where would you like me to stay, Detective?"

"You could stay in here I guess...Just don't be weird about it," he replied, rolling to his other side.
Nines tilted his head. "Where exactly, Detective?"
"Fuckin I dunno-Just here-the bed-...or whatever," he replied, his face turning red.
Nines complied, removing his Cyberlife jacket and hanging it on the bed frame. He crawled onto the bed, facing the ceiling with his arms rested on his torso. He glanced towards Gavin, having an irrational thought cross his mind.
I should cuddle him.
Nines turned on his side, moving in closer to Gavin, and placing his hand on the Detective's hip. Gavin hadn't cuddled with anyone in a long time. This small amount of contact with another living being felt nice. Like, really nice.
"W-what the hell are you doing Nines?" he whispered, still not moving from his original position.
"Its called cuddling, detective."
"Okay smart-ass," he chuckled. "Why?"
Nines' LED flickered.
"I don't know. I just, felt it was the right thing to do," he shrugged. "I hope you don't mind."
Gavin backed up into Nines, making any space between them disappear.
"I don't," he replied, a smile creeping onto his face.
Nines felt a strange warm feeling start to build up inside him. It wasn't uncomfortable; in fact it was an amazing feeling.
"I think I like cuddling Detective," his fingers traced along Gavin's side, inadvertently giving him goosbumps.
"Really? Well now that you're staying here you'll be able to do it a lot."
"Oh. So now you're all aboard with me staying with you?"
Gavin's face heated up.
"I didn't say that..." He bit his lip. "But yeah. I don't mind."
"Good night, Gavin," he kissed the back of his neck, sending shivers down his spine.
"Night, tin can."
