"Gavin, where are you taking me? You know I'm not supposed to leave the police station," Nines shifted uncomfortably in his seat, feeling uneasy after Gavin had snuck him out from DPD.
"Relax, tin can. It's not like I'm gonna murder you or anything," his hand loosely held the steering wheel, "I just wanna...show you something," he took a drag from his cigarette.
"That's reassuring," He rolled his eyes, resting his hand on, and anxiously tapping his thigh. "If you do break me, you're paying for all of my repairs."
"I'm not gonna break you, smart-ass," he finished off his cig and tossed it out the window. "Alright. We're here."
They stopped in what seemed like the middle of nowhere. Admittedly it was beautiful; the sucluded area filled with nothing but grass and the sound of birds chirping, the foliage climbing up the various tall trees, their leaves dancing in the warm glow of the sun.
"Gavin, why have you taken me here?" He asked, stepping out of the car. He noted the cooling of the temperature, breeze, and setting of the sun. "It's getting dark. We should get going."
Gavin ignored his suggestion, climbing up onto the hood of the car. Nines tilted his head curiously, wondering what was on the detective's mind.
"Well don't just stare at me. Come here," he patted the spot next to him.
Nines obliged, getting up onto the hood, and sitting where he was directed to.
"So...When we were talking the other day, you mentioned you'd never seen a um..." Gavin started akwardly, "...a sunset, in real life. That just blew my mind I guess," he stated, eyes darting around the scenery. Nines focused on the environment, especially the sunset. Something about it was so captivating. The warmth and the colours in the sky drew him in, making it hard for him to finally tear his eyes from it.
"So what you're saying is that you wanted me to...see a sunset?" He spoke, briefly looking to the other before returning his gaze to the sky.
"Well it sounds stupid when you say it like that," they both chuckled. They sat in a comfortable silence, both enthralled in the vibrant image in front of them.
"Well. I think it's beautiful," Gavin spoke, a genuine smile on his face.
Nines looked to Gavin; admiring the man who was now bathed in the golden light cast from the sun. He took a mental picture of the moment (something he wasn't allowed to do. His camera was strictly for crime scene photos/videos).
"Gavin...I-..." He took a breath, trying to build up the courage to say what was on his mind, "I think you're beautiful. I think you have the most endearing smile. The cutest little scar on your nose," he felt his face grow warm, his LED flickering from a blue to a yellow, "And when you're not being a dick, you have such a good sense of humor, and you care," he went on, fumbling with his hands. "I really like you, Gavin."
Gavin didn't know what to say. He moved close to the Android, and apprehensively rested his head on his shoulder.
"I really like you too, Nines."
