Bria sat on the floor bedroom, flipping through old sketchbooks

Bria sat on the floor bedroom, flipping through old sketchbooks. Many of her sketches were of Monse, her father,  and random doodles. Bria stares at the sketch of her mom. Deep down she misses her mom, but it's hard to miss something that wasn't there.

Bria rolls her eyes before she flips the page once more. There was the last sketch she ever did of Oscar. She stared at it for a moment. That was a different Oscar. He was playful, smart and always happy. That's why she had a little crush on him.

She groans before tossing the sketchbook on the floor. What if Monse found their mom? If shes so close, why didn't she contact them? For years,  Bria waited for her mom to return. Many moments she needed her mom, and to think she chose to miss out on all of it.

Why did Oscar feel the need to protect her? Was it really worth ending their long term friendship? Back then, Bria was cool with everyone. Of course she had the occasional issue but overall she was well liked.

"I'm going over to Olivias and Ruby's." Monse said, from the doorway.

"Can we talk?" Bria asks, sitting up in her bed.

Monse raises a brow before sitting at the edge of her sister's bed. "What's up?"

Bria took a breath, "I want to apologize about the whole mom thing. For years I thought she'd just one day show up and everything will go back to normal." She said, "I know I haven't exactly been around these last couple years, and I'm not exactly sister of the year but I don't want to see you get hurt. I love you too much Mo."

Monse smirks, "Haven't heard that nickname in a while."

Bria smiles, "Forgive me?" She opens her arms for a hug.

"Yeah." Monse leans in to give her sister a hug.

"Let me walk you to Ruby's. I need some fresh air." Bria said, letting go of the hug.

"It's only across the street." Monse said, confused.

"Never said how much fresh air." Bria said, walking into her bathroom.

"What's the point is this app again?" Bria asks, confused at what Ruby was explaining.

Ruby went to speak but noticed Jamal texting away. He sits next to his distracted friend. "Jamal! Could you put your phone down for two minutes? I'm talking about a billion dollar idea."

"I'm texting Cesar. He should be here by now." Jamal answers, texting away. He stops. "Dammit. He doesn't have a phone."

"Did you invite Cesar?"

"What's the big deal if he invites Cesar?" Bria asks.

"I was pretty explicit in my directive. I said 'Jamal, come over after school.' Not Jamal and Cesar." Ruby looks over at Bria. "Why aren't you in the room with the girls?"
