Chapter 15. Heartlands Future

Amy had 18 weeks Left to go and Ty thought it was as if she got bigger every day ( Although he would never tell her that to her face as he knew her Hormones were all over the place, but to Ty ,Amy was Beautiful even more so when pregnant, it was as if she glowed). Ty was going to be busy with inoculations for the next three weeks.
    Amy was told to take it easy because of her Spinal injury so decided to take new photos of the Ranch and redo the Website to include Photo's of the Dude Ranch and a Link to Lou's Website.
     When Amy uploaded the Photo's from her new Sony DSLR camera she noticed how washed out everything looked. The Barn, Quonset Hut , Hen house was to small and the Run was also to small, but the main problem was Nowhere near enough Hens. Her and Ty could make some money from selling Fresh Eggs but she needed a much bigger area fenced off. Doesn't matter about the top as long as the Coyotes and Wolves cant get in.
Amy is very well off as she never spent any of her earnings for a very long time, Ty knows she has money but told her to hang on to it incase she has some plans come up.
   His partnership at the clinic has took off and with most of the surgeries for Horses and Large animal's costing from 5,000 to 30,000 the clinics doing well.
    Amy dusts off her 4 x 4 Wheelchair as her back is starting to hurt and this is probably why Dr Hammond told her to hang on to them. Amy has her own plans of Heartland and starts looking round to see what needs doing and where she could build the new Hen house or Houses and run's.
When dinner time comes around there all sat down and Amy had put Ty in the picture earlier and asked what he thought, she also mentioned building a Clinic where the Old Hen House was and butting it up to the Barn Office. Ty thought his wife's plans were brilliant and  praised her for forward thinking as Amy never liked changing things, similar to Jack.

Amy also had another plan for the Land Jack gave her and Ty. There own Herd of Alpacas as the wool when there sheared would bring Amy and Ty a good income once or twice a year, plus they are built to survive the cold weather and Snow they get where they would live.
When Dinner was over Amy called her little meeting and everyone was surprised except Ty as Amy just usually does what the others say, except this time she has an ultimatum  and Ty's all for it.
Lou built her place at the Dude Ranch so Amy and Ty could live in the House as they'll be living and running the Heartland Ranch eventually.
Amy's ultimatum is that they will leave Heartland and Jack wont have anyone to leave it to , which means after he's gone they could sell it except for where Lou has her Dude Ranch.  Jack wont like that at all as Heartland is his Legacy to his Granddaughters.

" Right , as you all know I can't do much while I'm Pregnant because of my Spine. So I decided to update and redo my website including some Photo's of Lou's Dude Ranch with a Link to her website.  So I went out and started taking some new Photo's.
When I looked at all the Ranch photos and then the Dude Ranch photos I saw a big problem. "
( Amy hands out Photo's of both and asks them what they see as the problem   ).
Amy gives them time to look them over.
Lou immediately nods and tells Amy what she thinks is the problem,  so does Lisa and Ty who all guess right except Jack.
Jack looks and typically says " Nothing Wrong as far as I can see."
"Oohhh come on Grampa, you know what I'm on about, the Ranch looks Tired and Ty and I want to get the Barn and Quonset Hut repainted,  the Fence Rails restained to brighten it up.
I would also like to move the little Hen house and build Ty a Clinic butting up to the Office which would stop all the travelling to Town for Horse surgery's. The Ranch could also make some extra Income by having a bigger or 2 - 3 Hen Houses with a Larger run with stronger fencing and a lot more Hens Laying. Fresh Eggs for sale sign by the road.
As for the Land you gave Ty and Myself were going to start building our own Herd of Alpacas for the wool which will give Me and Ty a nice regular income once or twice a year.
SO, WHATS THE VERDICT. "

Lisa, Lou, Ty all said that what Amy was proposing was good for Heartland and obviously would take time to build up especially the Hens and their own Herd of Alpacas,  Lisa said that it was very forward thinking as her and Ty would be taking over Heartland eventually.
Everyone then looked at Jack.
Eventually Jack spoke," What you and Ty decide to do on your piece of Land is up to you as long as I don't have to have anything to do with those Alpaca things.
As for the rest of Heartland,  NO, I like it just as it is.
Amy was furious,  and Ty, Lisa ,and Lou could see she was about to Explode .
" You know what Grandpa, all these years since our Mum died I have been the main earner for YOUR HEARTLAND,  I say Your's because even though you say it's a Family Ranch/Business, I've never been consulted or involved in any decisions as to what happens on this Ranch or as you've said many time's I might add MY BUSINESS,  left to ME by my Mother. Your Happy to take a percentage of what I earn to keep Heartland rolling along but when it comes to even just doing some Painting YOU say No.
No wonder we get called the Pity Ranch as the Stanton's used to say. This Ranch puts people off bringing their business here and why my business struggles to grow and make me a decent income."
"Its still MY RANCH " Jack stubbornly shouts.
Amy's in a mood for a fight and what she says next rocks Jack, Lisa, and Lou.
"Okay Grandpa Me an Ty will save our money. You said to us that Heartland was your Legacy to leave for the next Generation,  meaning Me and Ty Of course,  as Lou's not interested in actually running the Ranch as a whole.  You're always saying to people that this is a Family run Ranch, well we've just finally heard you say it, it ISN'T A FAMILY RUN RANCH, it's YOUR RANCH. If you live long enough,  you may actually see the Fences keel over or the Barn suddenly collapse, well if we aren't allowed to start moving things on now so that by the time you Retire, Heartland will be ready to continue Forward,  then you leave Ty and I no choice but to Leave Heartland and buy our own place, which before you ask , Yes we have the Funds behind us to do that.
So you'll have to find someone else to leave your Run Down Legacy Ranch to, because I'm fed up with all this Bullshit about leaving Heartland to Rot and fall apart because of your Stubbornness.
Ty, Let's go to bed and look at Ranches for sale.  Goodnite all".
Amy n Ty walk away and go to bed.

The Silence at the table was so quiet you could hear a pin drop.
Lou and Lisa just looked at each other , then Lou said to Lisa that Amy had got her 4 x 4 Wheelchair out and spent two days going round the Ranch making notes and taking Photo's to see what needs repairing and painting,  then thought about the future,  and made more notes.
Lou looks at Jack then opens her mouth,
" That is the first time Amy has ever stuck up for herself and I am really proud of her, she normally doesn't like change and I have to agree with everything she said , Amy and Ty were going to Pay for everything Grandpa, I'm glad I have my Land and the Dude Ranch because its going to be a sad day when you have to sell this Ranch because you have no one to pass your Legacy on to, that's if anyone would want to buy a run down ranch that isn't worth what it should be, exceptfor the Land."
Just then Ty comes out to speak with Lou. " Lou, Amy asked me to tell you that she's closed down her Website and put on it that she will reopen in the future at new premises.  So if you get any phone calls about people needing help please inform them that its closed" Thanks Lou.
"Well I'm going home to my girls, Goodnight Lisa"
"Oh nite Lou " says Lisa.
Jack was still quiet,  Lisa thought he was probably in shock at being chewed out by his youngest Granddaughter .
Jack gets up , walks to the bedroom and shuts the door. 
Lisa gets up ,grabs her stuff , walks to her car and drives off back to Fairfield.
