JJ and Shaye spent the next night at John B's. They both woke up fairly early and decided to take a walk. Shaye put on a black bikini and a red top with some shorts. JJ was wearing his red hat and a gray t-shirt along with some tan cargo shorts.
Soon they both made it to the docks and sat on the edge. Deciding to start conversation first she said, "So. What happened last night?"
JJ let out a sigh, "I don't know, I guess I just lost it. Seeing him hit you made me lose any self control I had, and I know that I could get in huge trouble, but I needed to save you and John B. I had to." He finished running a hand through his hair.
" I get that J, I do. But I can't have you getting arrested. What would I do without you?" She said elbowing him lightly in the side.
He smiled down at her and her heart started racing. It was times like this that she realized how much she cared about JJ. They could sit together and talk about anything for hours and be perfectly content.
"When was the last time you went home?" JJ asked
Shaye shrugged her shoulders, "When was the last time you went home?"
"Touche." He laughed
"I honestly have no urge to go back there and get yelled at for hours, so I'm trying to stay away as long as possible" She snorted
JJ threw his arm around her shoulder as she leaned into him. "I say we run away. You and me. We can go somewhere sunny and I would open a surf shop and you would do anything you want. No parents. No pressure."
"As amazing as that sounds." Shaye started "We can't leave everyone. What kind of friend would I be if I left Kie to suffer Kook life alone."
JJ nodded his head "Yeah, you're right. Someday though"
She smiled up at him and JJ couldn't help but break out into a smile of his own. Shaye drove him completely crazy and her smile made him feel so safe. He couldn't imagine not having her in his life.
A few hours later they were all gathered back at John B's house. Kie was playing the bongos while Pope was reading a book. JJ and Shaye were fighting about the ending of some movie, when John B walked in "Look I'm calling it off. Alright?"
They all looked up as he continued, "Peterkin said if I stay out of the marsh, she'll help me with the DCS"
"And you believed her?" JJ asked sounding unconvinced.
