Oh Honey,
I'd walk through fire for you,
Just let me adore you
Shaye Bennett.
That name brings up a lot of controversy in Outer Banks.
To the Pogues, she's family.
To the Kooks, she's a traitor.
To JJ, she's everything.
*I do not own Outer Banks...

~Poor Teddy Bear~
No gold. The ship was empty. Pope kept trying to keep up the spirits and suggested going through again but it was no use. JJ thought the same. "Look we've already been through it three times, there's no-" He started but was interrupted by Kie
"Shut up" She yelled
Shaye was beginning to get frustrated herself. She knew it would all be too good to be true. "What? It's true" Shaye backed him up.
"The gold could be buried we don't know" Kie suggested
JJ continued steering the boat when John B finally spoke. "If it was there, it would've been found on the metal detecter okay? Somebody beat us to it"
"Or it was never there" JJ muttered as they rode to shore.
Everyone went off in their own ways once again and JJ decided to take this opportunity to talk to Shaye about what was bothering her. She seemed to be better today but there were still moments that she was out of it, in her own world.
"Take a walk with me?" He asked as John B went to his house, Kie went to work at the Wreck, and Pope went to Haywards.
She just smiled and nodded. Grabbing his hand, Shaye pulled him in the direction of the spot on the beach they always walk on.
JJ tried not to think of how it felt for her hand to fit so comfortably in his on the way there. Sneaking a glance, he couldn't help but frown. She looked exhausted. Of course, just as beautiful as always, but something was going on.
Arriving and taking a seat, JJ was the first to speak. "How are you?" He asked trying to ease her into telling him what was up.
"My dad's home" Shaye blurted like it was nothing.
But it wasn't nothing. JJ went rigid, clenching his fists. This was why she was so out of it. She hadn't seen him for almost two months until yesterday. "Did something happen?" He asked trying to keep his voice calm.
Shaye looked up and met his eyes. She never told JJ the details of everything that happened with her dad. "Just a fight. No big deal" She shrugged. And it was just a fight. But it brought back too many memories that were more painful then she could handle.
"It doesn't seem like no big deal" He whispered wrapping an arm around her shoulder. "But just know that whenever you wanna talk I'll always be here"
Leaning into his side, Shaye nodded wiping a silent tear from her cheek hoping JJ didn't see. But he did. And it broke his heart.
They sat there for a while, catching up on everything in each other's life's. It felt good to be there. No worries, no gold, no square-groupers, just Shaye and JJ. How they both liked it to be.
A few hours later, Shaye was watching while JJ practiced his gun on a poor teddy bear. "JJ" Pope yelled suddenly appearing.
JJ stopped killing the poor bear and looked over at Pope. "They know" Pope said worried, glancing over to Shaye.
Apparently this was a conversation she was not supposed to be apart of. "What?" JJ asked taking off his head gear.
"They know" Pope repeated emphasizing the 'they'.
JJ walked over to Pope trying to calm him down. "Alright chill bro. Alright? They don't know "
Shaye was getting more and more confused. "Uhhh who's they and what don't they know?" She asked trying to get some information.
They both looked at each other before Pope sighed. "Topper knows I sunk his boat"
Shaye choked on the water she was drinking. "E-excuse me?" She stuttered as her eyes shot to JJ who put his hands up in surrender.
"How do you know they know?" JJ asked messing with his gun.
"Because Rafe and Topper posted outside of Heyward's and mad dogged me"
Shaye scowled at the mention of Rafe. He'd never decided if he hated Shaye or wanted to date her for her money. It resulted in a lot of harsh converstations between the two. "I don't like where this is going" She mumbled
"Will you calm down and get a grip man. They don't know" JJ continued to convince Pope otherwise.
"They have cameras, they could've seen me"
"There was no power. How could they have seen you?"
Shaye decided to put in her input. "They definitely have generators. They're kooks."
Pope started pacing, getting more and more nervous. "They don't give scholarships to kids who vengefully sink boats."
Both JJ and Pope were talking at the same time getting louder and louder while Shaye was still trying to figure out what was happening. "Enough with the regret bro!" JJ finally yelled, silencing Pope. "They caved your face in. They hit us, we hit them, it's the law of the jungle. Now if any Kook comes up to you and asks if you had anything to do with it, you walk up to 'em, look 'em right in the eye and..?"
"Deny it" Pope answered for him
"That's right. Deny, deny, deny" JJ nodded "But just for safety, we don't go anywhere without protection" He finished waving the gun.
"Hold up" Shaye interrupted "Rafe and Topper jumped you?"
Pope just nodded back not making eye contact with Shaye. They were best friends and he knew she would be even more pissed then JJ was. "Well then, they deserved way more then sinking a stupid boat" She said clenching her fists.
