Shaye spent most of her day after that hanging with Pope and JJ. She went to the wreck earlier and Kie told her the whole story of what happened, including the part that John B kissed her. Shaye spit out her drink in surprise, coughing. Kie agreed and rubbed her hand over her face, saying that things would probably be really awkward from now on.
Shaye left soon after though, because she'd offered to help Heyward around with anything he needed, so right now she was counting inventory while JJ was behind her, watching. "I would really appreciate it if you would help me, J" Shaye said trying to reach a box on a shelf, to no avail.
A moment later an arm reached over her grabbing the box. She turned around to be face first in JJ's chest. The cramped room suddenly seemed a lot smaller. Looking up she met his eyes, as he looked down at her with a smile. "T-thanks" Shaye stuttered out a blush coming to her cheeks.
"Yeah, no problem" He muttered back as his gaze flickered to her lips. Her heartbeat quickened as they stared into each other's eyes. It was like gravity was bringing them closer and closer until there was less than an inch between them. Shaye's eyes fluttered shut at the same time JJ's did. Was this really happening?
"Hey guys! Do you know where I should put this?" Pope's voice sounded as they sprung back and Shaye hit her head on the shelf behind her. Groaning, she rubbed her head slightly, trying to calm the blush on her cheeks.
Pope's eyes shot between the two. Shaye was looking like a dear caught in headlights and JJ was rubbing his neck awkwardly, his cheeks pink. "Uhhhh did I interrupt something?" Pope asked smirking.
"No!" Shaye shouted as JJ shouted "Yes!"
They looked at each other before Shaye said "Yes!" and JJ said "No!"
Pope's smirk only grew as he dragged out an "okayyy" and put away one of the boxes.
Shaye looked at JJ who was looking at the floor. His eyes glanced up at her and they both blushed again before she said something about giving Heyward the sheets she had and left. Instead of going to Heyward though she stepped outside and leaned against the building. Letting out a sigh, she ran her hands through her hair.
Looks like it's gonna be awkward for both Kie and Shaye soon.
A few hours later they were hanging out behind Heyward's when John B pulled up in the van. Shaye and JJ still hadn't talked yet and the tension made Pope smile in satisfaction, hoping that the two would finally get together.
"Let's ride" JJ said as everyone got in.
"This better be good" Pope added
John B drove them all down to The Wreck to get Kie. Pope went in to get her then came out a minute later, saying she's not coming. Shaye snorted "Makes sense" She muttered
