Kayaking
Is bittersweet
Like floating on a sea of memories
Twirling idle circles between the mountains and the sky.
Paddles disturbing the surface
Pulling memories from the deep,
Things I want to savour
Until tears mix with the salt spray
Rain falling as softest kisses
But I'm in another time
When two kayaks graced this loch
Not one
When we paddled together
Under crystal moon and setting sun,
Our laughter tracing birdflight,
For I didn't know,
That next time I'd be alone.
A huff of air breaks the silence
And dark seal eyes stare into mine
A sea-singer and a lost soul
Both dreamers, both adrift,
But different, I guess,
For the seal is warmth and reality
And I am but a ghost
Gliding back through time
Every paddlestroke takes me further
A wraith of past laughter
My company a single seabird
Sitting like a flake of snow on steely sea.
a/n: Well, I hope you liked the first poem! It's one of my favourites. I just want to say though... it's not a love poem. It was written about me and my friend and the power of friendship rather than romance. I just for some reason wanted everyone to know that.
Also just so you know: loch is the scottish term for a lake, or in this case a deep, narrow bay or fjord in the coast.
Alas didn't take that photo.... I found it on pinterest instead XD
Thanks, Cassie xxx
