Liam turns around slowly and he doesn't take his eyes off of me. "Please ..." I beg and he comes closer to me again.
"Why? Why do you want me to stay with you?" he asks me angrily.
"I-I ..." I stutter, not finding any words to give him a truthful answer. I just need him.
"That's what I thought." Instead of leaving me alone in the pool house, he goes back to the couch and sits down. He places his elbows on his knees and holds his head in his hands, then groans in frustration.
"Liam ..." I trail off, unsure of what to say at this moment. I sigh and decide to take a seat next to him. "We've been through this over and over."
He sits up and stares at the TV then slowly nods. "I know," he says. "I'm sorry for putting you in this position."
"It's not your fault," I tell him. "Look at me."
He hesitates before turning his full attention to me. "It really is. If we stayed away from each other none of this would've happened."
"That's true, but I assumed you were the kind of guy who likes to live on the edge," I say and smirk at him, and a smile starts to pull at the corners of his mouth.
"Oh yes, I love it when we have to hide from people who are most likely going kill us," he jokes and moves closer to me. "Sorry for snapping at you a few minutes ago."
I shake my head. "You don't need to apologize."
He nods and the two of us are silent again. I fidget with my fingers for a few seconds, trying to think of a different topic. "Liam?"
"Yes, love?"
"Why me? Out of all the girls at school, why me?" I ask him and he looks surprised.
"Why would you ask that?"
"You can have anyone you want. Why did you focus in on me?" I ask him curiously.
He turns away from me and pinches the bridge of his nose. "Why does my answer matter?"
"I just want to know why."
"It's not going to change anything, so I'll ask again. Why does my answer matter?" He breathes out slowly and looks frustrated again.
I don't say anything, and instead I look down at my hands. "It matters to me," I whisper and I see him look at me again from the corner of my eye. He sighs.
"We should just give up on this cycle," he says with defeat. "Aren't you getting tired of all of this?"
I get up quickly and fight the urge to cry while I look down at him. I can't believe he just said that. "Honestly Liam," I manage to speak. "I thought we were getting somewhere. I thought we were making some progress in whatever this really is. I can't deny that I'm attracted to you and that I like you more than I really should. So to answer your question, no I'm not tired of this."
Before Liam can say anything, I hurry to the entrance of the pool house without him noticing that the tears have finally spilled out. I slam the door as I make my way back to the main house to search for Valerie, but I give up when I come to the conclusion that I can't be near him.
I can't stay in the same room as Liam if he feels that whatever we are is really not worth it anymore. I rush upstairs by skipping one step as I continue to try to keep myself together. Or at least what I have left to keep ...
I'm already at the bottom of the steps that lead to my bedroom when I hear footsteps from behind and a familiar voice calls for me. "Rosalie!"
I don't look back as more tears pour out and I walk up to the room hurriedly. I don't want to talk to him ...
