"Why do we have to babysit those two girls?" Carter complains and I roll my eyes.

"Can we not talk about them, please?" I snap at her. "I have too many things on my mind and I'm focused on going to this meeting."

She smirks. "I lied about the meeting," she admits.

"Excuse me? Why in the hell would you do that?"

"I wanted to get some ... alone time," she says and comes closer to me. She wraps her arms around my neck, bringing my face down to hers.

Before she continues doing anything else, I push her away. "We can't," I say. "I'm not starting something that was left in the past for a reason."

She flinches at my harsh words. "Is it because of her?" she almost shouts, pointing in the direction of the bedroom Rosalie and I are staying in, two hallways down.

"She has nothing to do with this," I snarl.

"Then what's the problem?"

"The problem?" I stand directly in front of her now and she looks scared. Good. "Here's the problem. We're running for our lives and we're trying to return to some sort of normalcy. Do you really think I can concentrate on being with anyone right now?"

She smiles. "So," she pauses. "There is nothing going on between you and Rosemarie?"

"Rosalie," I correct her. "And what happens between the two of us is none of your business. It shouldn't concern you."

"Last time I checked, the two of you are staying in the same bedroom in my warehouse. So, it actually does concern me," she gives me an attitude.

"My 'love life' does not need to be shared with you," I lecture her and our faces are close to each other again.

Her eyes grow wide as she takes a step back. "Oh, so there is something going on between the two of you."

"It's not my fault you can't move on from something that only lasted a few months," I say cruelly. "I even told you that I didn't want to get tied down, just the-"

"Benefits and no commitments, I remember," she finishes my sentence and looks away. "You can go now."

I don't say another word to Carter as I brush passed her to go back to Rosalie. There is no fucking way I'm letting those two go near each other anytime soon.

---

"That was quick," Rosalie sounds surprised and jumps a little, not expecting the door to open. She's on the right side of the large bed, neatly folding her clothes.

I chuckle. "Yeah, it wasn't anything important. Just some ground rules that needed to be explained," I lie.

She looks back down at what she's doing. "Well, I'm happy you're back," she says and I smile.

"Oh really?" I raise an eyebrow and slowly walk over to her.

She still doesn't look up, but I can see her cheeks are turning pink as I come up from behind her. I love it when she blushes. "I'm happy I came back, too," I whisper in her ear, placing my hands on her hips.

"What is with you today?" she laughs and turns around quickly. Our faces are so close and it makes it ten times more tempting to kiss her soft lips as I slowly pull her closer to me.

"I'm happy we got here safely and I came back to you," I say quickly. "And you forgave me."

"I didn't completely forgive you," she says, catching me by surprise and my hands drop from her hips, but I don't take a step back.
