Cassie opened her eyes and sighed as the morning light flooded into the room through the open window. She could have easily closed her eyes again and called back to sleep yet she had work to do. She silently slipped out of bed and to the Denver house kitchen, the kitchen where Judd would cook the young Naturals breakfast most mornings, but now the house only held Cassie and Dean. Michael and Sloane had been moved to the Atlanta FBI division three years after Mackenzie joined, Lia had moved away from the house and into a small ranch house where she had started a small non profit for sexually and mentally abused kids, she taught them how to sue their traumas first and how to heal. A process Cassie knee Lia would never talk to them about. Judd moved out once Mackenzie and Laurel were eighteen and twenty one, Laurel pursued college and Mackenzie was ready for the next step in becoming an agent. Other Naturals had been found and seemed out, but ever since the program became public there was a more difficult and precise was of recruiting and they had an official training site for the kids. Dean was working with Sterling and Briggs at the Denver Division and Cassie had become a part time therapist for kids who had trauma. She missed the old program, but also trusted that this was the best for everyone.
"You're up already?" She smiled as Dean wrapped his arms around the 31 year old and kissed her neck gently. She leaned back against him and let her eyes wander through the kitchens window out to the pasture.
"The twins are coming over today, crazy that they are almost ten," Cassie said as Dean pulled away and went to the fridge to fetch the eggs.
"Yeah, Sterling and Briggs have their hands quite full with those two," he laughed as he set the carton down on the counter and turned Cassie around, gently putting his hands in her slightly rounded stomach.
"At least you're only one baby girl," he whispered to her belly making Cassie roll her eyes and laugh. Their baby girl was due in four months, Dena had already started to request more time off in preparation and Cassie was just enjoying the journey, occasionally getting tips from Veronica on how to deal with an infant. She was glad their lives were finally normal, or as normal as a Naturals could be
