"It's them or me!" Our stepmother screeched. Me and Ivy were leaning against the study door, listening to our father and stepmother, who were arguing on the other side. We were originally on our way to the garden, but we had heard our Father and stepmother through the door, and we had decided to listen.
"Her" I whispered "Say her!"
There was a pause
"I'll take them back in the morning, along with the others" said Father, much more quietly.
The first emotion that hit me was anger. He was lucky I didn't storm in there and snap his stupid glasses in half!
But then, I started feeling curious.
"The others?" I said to Ivy "what does he mean 'the others'?"
She shrugged "I'm not sure"We started up again, on our way to the garden, when someone knocked on the door. So I ran to the front of the house, and opened the door.
On the front steps, I saw 5 girls. They were carrying a suitcase and a backpack each.
The girl who had knocked on the door, had stormy grey eyes and blonde hair, that was tied back into a ponytail.
The girl standing next to her, had choppy brown hair, and eyes like a kaleidoscope. They seemed to change colour every time I looked at them, which was odd. I had never seen eyes do that before.
The third girl, had spiky hair, that held a circlet and intense blue eyes like a thunderstorm.
The fourth girl had curly cinnamon brown hair, dark skin, and gold eyes.
The Last girl had Dark eyes, and long dark hair pulled into a braid.
"Who are all of you?" I asked, suspicious.
In an American accent, the girl with Blonde hair said "Your father is a friend of one of our teachers. He agreed to take us to Rookwood tomorrow"
I looked at Ivy, who was standing behind me. Father hadn't told us anyone was coming. Then again, he didn't pay much attention to us, ever, so why would he tell us this?
I turned back to them. "I've never seen you at Rookwood before?"
"We're exchange students" the girl with choppy brown hair said. "from America."
I looked at Ivy again.
"Should we let them in?"Ivy nodded.
I opened the door fully and let the girls in. They all did a double take when saw Ivy and I standing next to each other. We were exact mirror images of each other, so it wasn't shocking.
I told them to just leave their luggage on the ground.
We then gave them a bit of a house tour. Well, Ivy did. I stood next to my sister, my eyes on the new girls. I didn't know if I could trust these people yet, and I didn't want any part in showing them around our house randomly.
I was also still angry at father for shipping us out.
The boys got stay and do whatever they wanted, while we got taken away like pieces of trash. We eventually made our way to the garden. It was awkward between the exchange students, and us, so at first it was mostly just silence.
The silence ended when Ivy slowly began to explain what had previously happened to us, despite the glances I gave her.
The exchange students listened. Their reactions varied from shock, anger and disgust.
A few of them glanced at me sympathetically. After a short while, I'd had enough.
"So," I asked, "what about you all? Where did you come from? Why did you decide to exchange to our school?" You could hear a pin drop. I half expected a tumbleweed to roll past.
The 5 girls glanced at each other, with varying levels of panic. It was like they didn't know the response to a question they should've know.
The blonde haired girl, Annabeth, opened her mouth to say something, when our stepbrother, Harry told us it was time for dinner.
I slowly walked inside, dreading seeing our stepmother again, even if it was just for a few moments.
I began to wonder why the exchange students had looked so panicked when we asked them about their past. If they had gone through a similar ordeal like I had, then we had showed that they could tell us their past struggles.Either way, it was suspicious. And I intended to find out why they were acting like that.

Our stepmother dished up a burnt roast lamb and soggy vegetables for dinner, while going on about what brave girls Ivy and I had been, and Welcoming Annabeth, Piper, Thalia, Hazel and Reyna to our cottage.
Our Stepbrothers were apparently playing their new favourite game called "flicking food at our Stepsisters and the guests".
I was about to play my favourite game called "Knockout".
But the Necromancer would've just yelled at me, and made a big deal out of it.
I did end up scolding one of them. The she-demon looked at me like I'd just strung him to the ceiling to use as my punching bag.I was almost surprised she didn't didn't stop them, since they were flicking food at Annabeth, Piper, Thalia, Reyna and Hazel too. She didn't care about us, but I doubted she wanted to seem bad in front of guests. Even our stepmother had standards.
Ivy and I left the table early, leaving our 'guests' to finish eating.
When they finally came to our room, Ivy and I were in the middle of a conversation.
Once we'd finished talking, the first words a girl called Thalia spoke were: "Do your brothers always act like that?"
"Yep" I said.
Ivy nodded.
"I feel sorry for you"
