(This week's upload, is a double chapter, since this chapter is quite short, and doesn't really change from the original story. Chapter 16 has also been uploaded. Also, I know I copied the original one for the start, but I just really like it. I will probably come back and try to construct something different for the start, so it isn't so similar. But for now, I hope you enjoy ...)

Scarlet

For a long time, I'd suspected I was insane.

Now I was beginning to believe everyone else was.

Ivy believed in ghosts, Violet and Miss Finch were hiding a girl in a secret room, Hazel seemed to bump into me every time I had gone on an 'adventure' to the library, Piper was apparently very good at convincing people, Thalia had almost electrocuted me earlier today and lord only knew what Ariadne, Annabeth and Reyna were doing - Ariadne had appeared to have pulled out a magnifying glass from somewhere and was peering at words that had appeared on the stones. "It's paint," she was muttering to Annabeth. "Old, flaking paint...."
The prefect was hitting her knee with what looked like the same cap Hazel had brought with her on our first nighttime adventure, and was staring at the writing, pointing out things to Reyna in the second line of strange symbols.

As for Ghost girl, she was standing with her ear to the wall, as if it was talking to her.

I stepped closer to the wall, and saw;

We are the Whispers in the Walls.
They will try to silence us, but they will fail.
We will speak out.
The truth MUST be revealed.
The truth about Rookwood. The truth about Headmaster Bartholomew.
THE WHISPERS WILL BE HEARD.

I read this, amazed and curious. Who had written this? What did this mean?
It didn't stop there. In smaller writing, there was more:

We pledge to;
- Meet in one of the secret rooms once a week
- Never tell anyone about the Whispers
- Look, listen, learn everything we can
- Collect evidence of the truth, searching high and low
- Protect others
- Uncover every detail of what REALLY goes on at this school

Scattered around these main pieces of writing, were students' names.

Alice Jefferson. Elizabeth Fitzgerald. Ida Smith. Katy Morwen. Talia Yahalom. Bronwyn Jones. Emmeline Adel.

I read that last name again.
And again.
And again.

"Ivy. Ivy you need to look at this."

My twin cane over to where I was. Her eyes followed my own to where I was looking.

"What......" her hand covered her mouth. She reread it like I had, not believing what was there, was there.

"It really says that, doesn't it?"

Ivy nodded.

Emmeline Adel. Our mother.

I supposed there was a small chance it could be someone else also named Emmeline Adel, but it didn't seem very likely. How many Emmeline's could there be?

Our mother? At Rookwood? We hadn't known anything about it. Then again, we'd known very little about anything to do with her.

And it seemed she'd not only attended Rookwood, but had also been a member of a secret society or club.

"We need to get out of here," said Violet, suddenly edgy. "We should cover that back up, whatever it is. Rose needs to sleep, and I'm not about to let you lot get us caught...."

"Shut up, Violet," I said. Violet had a point, but I was still angry at the fact that I had hoped to get out of trouble by revealing Violet as the thief, and now was involved almost as much as she was. I turned to Ivy, Ariadne, Thalia, Piper and Hazel. "Will you remember this" I asked, gesturing to the wall. "Until we can come back and copy it down? Make some sense of it?"
They all nodded. My twin still looked shocked.

"It's fascinating," said Ariadne. "A real mystery..."

"Then let's get out of here, I don't need this night getting any more bizarre." I looked Violet in the eye.
"We'll keep your secret, but we're doing this for her," I pointed to Rose. "Not you, alright?"

I turned to the wall, and saw Annabeth and Reyna staring at the names on the wall.
I could hear Annabeth quietly muttering quietly to herself I was confused as anything, but decided my questions could wait for another time.

"Reyna!" I said. "Annabeth! Earth to Annabeth and Reyna!"

Annabeth turned away from the wall, quick as lightning. "We know. We're just getting our bearings. Yes, we'll  be able to remember this until we can come back and copy it all down. Let's get out of here."

I nodded, and looked at where Miss Finch was standing, also staring at the wall. "This is very interesting indeed," she said quietly.

"Miss?" I said. She turned to face me. "You should've told us about this. But..... thank you, anyway. Thank you for getting us out of there."

Miss Finch smiled. "I just hope I haven't got you into even more trouble." Her eyes wandered back to the wall again. "All at Rookwood is not as it seems...."

I picked up one of the candles and left the room, through the door and up the stairs, Ariadne, Ivy and the rest trailing behind.

I felt tired as I left the library, but my mind was racing with the new information I had just attained about our mother.

We made it back to room 13 unscathed.
I collapsed onto my bed, and fell asleep as soon as my head lightly brushed the pillow.
