Chapter 16

Piper

I was the last person to leave the room. As I was about to go through the door Miss Finch stopped me.
She handed me a folded piece of paper and mouthed 'show this to the other exchange students'.

I nodded and left hurriedly so I could catch up with the others.

As I left, I shoved the note in my pocket, feeling it every so often, as to make sure it hadn't fallen out. I didn't know what was in the note, but I figured it had at least a bit of importance. Enough that I needed to keep it safe.

I awoke the next morning, at ease and overall feeling calm. I hadn't had any of those dreams about the girl who drowned, or even a dream at all.

As I lay there, I realised I had forgotten to show the note from Miss Finch to Annabeth, Thalia, Hazel and Reyna. I hadn't even read the thing.

I got up, and felt for the note. Luckily, it was still in my pocket.

I looked around the room. Annabeth and Thalia were both already awake.
Thalia was sitting at the desk, trying to do her prep work, though doing prep work was impossible in and of itself, since it was all written in English.

Annabeth was sitting at the end of her bed, with Daedalus's laptop open on her lap, doing something on the computer.
I walked over to her.

"Hey Annabeth?" I said.

She looked up at me. "Morning Piper".
Her eyes went back to the laptop.

"Miss Finch gave me this. She asked me to show it to you, Thalia, Hazel and Reyna."

That seemed to get her attention. Annabeth took her laptop of her lap, and stood up.
"Hey Thals, you might want to look at this as well."

As I unfolded the piece of paper, I panicked slightly, realising we might not be able to even read the message if it was written in English.

To my surprise, I could actually read what Miss Finch had written. She had written the top line in Ancient Greek, and the bottom line in Latin.

Dear exchange students,

Please meet me in the ballet studio in 2 weeks, Friday, just after class ends.

Make sure you're alone. He'll be watching you.

"How did she know?" Asked Thalia, as she read over my shoulder. "How did she know that we could understand this?"

"I don't know" said Annabeth, reading over the words again. "We'll just have to go and meet with her, and find out."

"And make sure 'he' isn't watching us." I said. I had a pretty good idea at who he was. And if he found out who we were .. that could be trouble.

We stood in silence for a moment, until something came to my mind, out of the blue.
"Annabeth, about those names we found on the wall." I said, slowly. "You seemed distracted by them."

Thalia nodded. "Yeah. What happened there? You were frozen, just staring at them like they were about to jump off the wall and run away."

Annabeth seemed like she was conflicted about
telling us.

She grabbed her laptop and opened up to a document that listed all the names that had been written on the wall.
