The breeze was gentle and the noises of vehicles and chatter of people continued as it never ends. The city lights were bright as the sky kept fading into darker shades of blue. It was calming in a way, and you couldn't help but feel grateful to be given a home and beautiful city like this, despite the chaos that holds within it. It was home.
You hadn't mentioned to Peter that your feet felt sore from all the extra running just in case he would insist to take you home by carrying you, using his suit.
It was around 5 pm when you began walking back home from Peter's apartment, after helping him finish his homework and assignments that he struggled to complete. He was all open about it this time as he did not want to repeat what had happened recently between the both of you.
With a nod from the guards at the front of the compound, you made your way to the dining room where you found everyone putting plates and setting food down on the table. The smell of fries, salads and meat immediately filled your nose, closing your eyes as you inhaled the aroma of freshly cooked goods.
"You made it in time, sunshine." Natasha said behind you, as she offered to take your backpack off your shoulders.
"Where's dad?" You asked, letting her take the bag off your shoulders for her to bring it over to the couch.
"Your not excited to see us?" She pouted playfully, walking over to you.
"Nope. Now where is he?" You said, glancing around the room.
"Geez, he's on his way. Why do you need him so badly?" Nat asked, tilting her head.
"There's a camp in two weeks and I want to ask him if I can go." You reached in your pocket for the poorly folded paper poster that your teacher had handed you and gave it to Natasha.
"Why do you need your dad so urgently? Can't you wait till after dinner?"
"Oh yea, sorry, I'm just excited." You chuckled nervously.
"You should be, this is an opportunity for you to do activities you've never done before, like making a bonfire, sleeping in cabins, lunchtimes at the lake." Nat explained as she read the small poster.
"Have you done any of them before?" You asked.
"No, but I've always wanted to." Nat said as she eyed the paper up and down, feeling a sense of nostalgia flood upon her chest.
"Don't worry, you don't need to experience those things, you have us." You said which caused Nat to smile from your kind but simple words.
"Dinners ready!" Sam yelled at you two from across the dining room.
