I hissed glaring at the dark haired man, I rose. Harry grabbed my arm.

"Avery , really it's nothing." Harry assured me. I sat back down grudgingly.

"Who's that teacher talking to Professor Quirrel?" Harry asked.

"Oh, you know Quirrel already, do you? No wonder he's looking so nervous, that's Professor Snape. He teaches Potions, but he doesn't want to- everyone know he's after Quirrel's job. Knows an awful lot about the Dark Arts, Snape." Percy Explaiend.

"My father knows Snape." I muttered darkly. Professor Dumbeldore rose to his feet.

"Ahem- just a few words now that we're all fed. Avery have you had enough?" Dumbeldore said.

"Enough to get through your speech, sir." I replied.

"I have a few start-of-term notices to give you. First years should not that the forest on the grounds to all pupils and a few of our older students should do well to remember that as well." Dumbeldore's merry eyes found the Weasley twins.

"I have been asked by Mr. Filch, the caretaker, to remind you all that no magic should be used between classes in the corridors. Quidditch trials will be held in the second week of the term. Anyone interested in playing for their house teams should contact Madam Hooch."

"And finally, I must tell you that this year, the third- floor corridors on the right-hand side are out of bonds to everyone who does not wish to die a very painful death." Dumbledore said. Harry laughed.

"He's not serious?" asked Harry.

"I believe he is." I muttered. Hermione-boy spoke to Harry.

"And now, before we go to bed, let us sing the school song." Dumbeldore announced.

"I'd rather fight a Peruvian Vipertooth. I have a pet one in fact. Her name is Serphona." I said. I plugged my ears. Finally, we followed Percy through the chattering people. I walked in a daze, barely noticing anything.

"Ooh!" said a tiny ugly man. "Ickle firsties! What fun?" I presume the person blocking the way to my bed is Peeves.

"Hey Peeves!" I yelled pulling out my wand.

"Flippendo!" I yelled. Peeves flew backward.
