A sudden rush of icy air sliced against my face. I wasn't expecting it, and almost fell over. It seemed as if my face was frozen solid.

Shivering, I faced toward Alec, "Since when was-"

"I don't know. In The chasm, the seasons change..?" Alec joked. The bright sun's rays weren't enough to warm me up, especially with a short sleeved shirt and thin jacket. What if it was a different season when my mother came? That means the journal would be useless!

"Alec, give me my journal," I could hear the tension in my raspy voice. He quickly handed it over. My fingers went over the smooth surface, and I flipped to the first page. It read,

To whom might find this notebook, I assure it will become of use. My name, is anonymous. I assume you have been sent to The Chasm, as I was. Most likely, innocent. So, I will tell you what I learned, from being in The Chasm.

I anxiously turned the page.

Day 1: Always remember-

First, do not think just because your alone, and the night is silent, you are away from danger. In this hell hole, there is no such thing as the word safe.

Second, always have a weapon of some sort. It never hurts to sleep with a knife.

Third, travel in packs. Loup Garou, also known as wolf people, lurk in the shadows. It's always best to befriend them.

I could feel Alec breathing on my neck, "Dude, ever heard of a mint?"

He slowly covered his mouth with his hand, "Sorry," he made a weird growl from the back of his throat. Weird.

"I'm just joking young chap. If you wanted to read it, you could of asked,"

"Well...I just thought, it would be rude. I mean its your privacy. Yet, I couldn't help but take a little peek," I raised an eyebrow, he's such a gentlemen, reminded me of a little kid.

"It's fine kiddo," I still didn't know how old he was. No more than fifteen right?

"You sure you can call me kiddo? How old are you, sixteen?" His wide grin made me laugh.

"Nope eighteen," I stuck out my tongue, knowing I was going to surprise him.

He made a proud face, "Well well, aren't you grown up? Sorry cutie I'm twenty, well ill be twenty in a week," my mouth dropped. Twenty?! He seems no older than fifteen!

"From that facial expression, I'm assuming you thought I was fifteen or something right?" yep, exactly. Darn, I thought I could act like the oldest.

I pouted, "we're off subject. Lets read the rest of what she wrote," he probably heard the disappointment in my tone, but still nodded.

Fourth, The Chasm changes seasons. Don't believe me?

Oh I believe you, don't worry, I silently thought to myself.

Well you'll see soon enough.

Fifth, there are monsters. Watching.Your.Every.Move. It's even scary when you use the bathroom. Think about it.

Me and Alec looked at each other.

"Uhh.."

"Nope don't ask," I never knew my mother was so strange.

Sixth, food and water should be one of your top priorities. (But you should of known that) There are waterfalls located in different kinds of spots. But looking for a thawed out water might be difficult in winter.

Great. Seventh, well to tell you the truth I was tired of reading by the time I saw the number. It probably went on for ages. My stomach grumbled, loudly, and when I mean loudly, I mean loudly.

Alec held in laughter, "Come on, it's about time I show you a little something called hunting,"
