CHAPTER 9

____________________________________
"Now, I am not dancing alone under the cold moon."

8:00 PM.

I was wearing midnight blue dress with a spaghetti strap, na kakabili ko lang sa Mall kanina, kasama si Morris. Hanggang sa tuhod ko ito. I glanced up at the rearview mirror, nakita ko ang puting hairclip na bumagay sa mahaba kong buhok. Napangiti nalang ako na walang dahilan.

At ibinalik ang atensyon ko sa pagmamaneho. I looked at my watch. It read as 8:00 PM.

My phone rang. It was Morris.

"Hoy, Selene. asan ka na? The party is about to start." morris' voice on the other line.

"I'm on my way."

"Okay. Take care."

"I will." I said as I turned it off.

To my shock!

Out of gas. Seriously.

Now, I was standing alone in the midst of darkness. No street ligths. No cars passing by. Quiet streets with no signs of human life.

Good! Kanino ako hihingi ng tulong!?

Kinuha ko ang cellphone sa bag na nakalagay sa driver seat and called Morris to come and get me.

This dark..This silence.. It was so peaceful. But it is not possible to enjoy the night knowing that very real and depressingly common dangers lurking in the shadows.

Hinayaan ko nalang iyon but to calm myself and feel the silence of cold night.

Okay! I just stood and wait for Morris to show up.

This night, I love the crisp, invigorating cold air, the comforting darkness, and the meditative experience of simply listening to my deep breathing and the rhythms of my heartbeats.

I looked up, there was a brigthly shining crescent moon, smiling down at me. There were beautiful thousands stars above me that had millions of wishes to come true.

I began to shiver due to cold and....fear when I heard noises from the woods. Tumaas lahat ang mga balahibo ko nang marinig ang tunog ng isang kuwago, they were really called a clock of the mountains but what a scary sound.

Then, I heard a werewolf howl na mas lalo akong ikinatakot at nanginig.

Kung meron man.

In a long period of time....
Good Heaven! I saw a car papalapit sa akin at pinara ko ito.

The car had slowed down to about the same place I was standing, intense rock music blaring out to my ear and smoke of cigarretes came out when the driver's window rolled down and I could hear a few men whispering to each other from its open windows.

I coughed as I covered my nose. I can't help but to ask their help.

"Well..well..miss beautiful.. what are you doing here alone?" He said as he decreased the volume of their intense music.

"Out of gas. Would you help me?"
I said.

"Anything for you, peanut sweetcake." He said in a seductive way at saka ito ngumisi.
