Drayce and Caelum sat next to each other in the library, trying to process what they had just seen.
“That was…” Drayce started.
“Crazy.” Caelum finished. “I can hardly believe that I did all that this morning.”
“Mighty productive of you.” Drayce said lightly. However, he received a glare from Caelum. “Sorry. So, do you remember all of it now?” Drayce asked.
Caelum nodded. “Unfortunately.”
A knock sounded on the library door and a guard poked his head in. “They’ve finished clean-up” he said solemnly.
“Thank you for letting us know.” Drayce said not moving. The guard closed the door again.
Caelum finally stood. “I have somewhere I need to be. I’ll see you tonight.” Drayce nodded and with that he was gone.
Drayce idly wondered where Caelum was going. Of course, Caelum was allowed a personal life, but it felt strange for him to leave, especially after the morning’s events. Drayce stood. He should probably go check on Lillia. She hadn’t left their room all day. She would probably appreciate a walk.
He walked down the hall, stepping around servants trying to scrub out blood stains in the rugs and walls.
He reached the bedchamber door and knocked softly and entered. A quick scan of the room revealed that Lillia wasn’t there. He went further into the rooms, checking in the sitting room, but that was empty.
He hadn’t expected her to leave, but he couldn’t blame her. She had been locked up in their room all day.
He stepped out of the room. He looked down the hall and saw the retreating back of who he thought was Lillia’s maid. He jogged to catch up with her. “you’re Lillia’s maid, are you not?” Drayce asked her.
The girl stopped. She looked nervous, like a child being caught doing something wrong. “Yes.” She responded.
“Do you know where I might find her?” He asked.
The girl tensed. “I don’t know what ye are meanin’”
Drayce looked at her strangely “My wife. I seemed to have misplaced her. Do you know where she is?”
“Uh, I think she was bein’ with Captain Goladroth.” The girl said, rocking on the balls of her feet.
“But I was just with Caelum…” Drayce started
“Excuse me.” She cut across him and hurried away. Drayce was taken aback. Servants simply didn’t act that way. Where on earth could Lillia be?

Lillia walked along. She had a cloak on, despite the warm temperature, because she couldn’t think of another way to hide her ears and hair. As she looked around, she realized that was a mistake. She was drawing more attention than not. She had her hair pulled back in a simple twist, like what the lower-class woman tended to wear. That was better than the intricate braids of a noblewoman.
Lillia looked around at her surroundings. She needed a better solution than her cloak, or she’d never fit in. She noticed that some of the ladies she saw had head scarfs on. Not all the scarfs covered their entire head of hair, but if Lillia could find one that did, then she’d be golden. But she’d have to be discrete.
She looked around as she walked. Her goal was to get out of the central province as soon as she could. Then out of Kamasia altogether. She knew that Drayce would assume she hadn’t left. She hoped he wouldn’t look further.
