“Do you feel the energy inside of you?” Zathrian asked.
Drayce nodded. It wasn’t just his Mystic abilities. His blood was pumping with adrenaline. You know, as is common, when you’re in the presence of a murderer. They stood in the cover of dark, in the solitude of the woods. Part of Drayce was cursing himself. Even a simpleton could see that this was a daft move. Drayce had brought a lantern on Zathrian’s request but it did little to illuminate more than the small area they resided.
“That of course is your power. My guess is that its antsy to be used?” Zathrian speculated.
Drayce thought for a moment. He always tried to ignore that aspect of himself, so he hadn’t noticed until then that his power was churning and almost demanding to be used. He nodded again.
“That’s good. That means we have a plethora to work with. The fact that you’ve only used your powers a couple times your entire life, my guess is that you have years worth of power stored up inside you. If you’re not careful, it can build up and explode in a fitful display. That’s when accidents happen.” Zathrian said. “There are many possible abilities that you could possess, but most Mystics or Alchemists only have a select few, with one specialty.”
“What’s my specialty?” Drayce asked.
“How should I know?” Zathrian said. “That’s what we’re trying to figure out.”
Drayce rolled his eyes and continued to listen.
“I don’t know if there are more abilities available to Mystics than Alchemists, but I guess we’ll find that out too.” He untied his cloak and let it drop he motioned for Drayce to do the same.
“What are we going to try first?” Drayce said throwing his cloak aside. He just wanted his information, but it was their first meet up and he couldn’t risk suspicion yet. He needed Zathrian’s trust first. For now, he was just going to have to keep his ears open for anything that might be useful.
“So far, you’ve sent out energy fields, reversed time, and healed yourself, anything else?” Zathrian asked.
Drayce shook his head. There was no point in tell him he had revived Caelum’s memory. That could be a very valuable weapon, especially if Keir continued to corrupt people. He thought a moment. He had also seen flashes into the future like Zathrian had said. But he hadn’t been able to do that since the war.
“We’ll start small then. You probably don’t have more abilities than that. Most people are limited to only three or four abilities. There’s no point in practicing healing yourself, your body does it on its own and you only can heal yourself so many times before you have to wait for the power to restock. Your body produces the power like it produces blood. It’s ingrained in your nature.” Zathrian said. Drayce kept his fact neutral. He had thus far demonstrated five abilities. What did this mean? Was it because he was a Mystic instead of an Alchemist?
“How long does that usually take to ‘restock’?” Drayce asked.
“It varies person to person. I assume Mystics can do it faster than Alchemists.” Zathrian took a fighting stance. His feet apart, his right foot further forward, his knees loose but firm. “Let’s start with energy fields. This is great for combat. No so much if your extremely close to your enemy, because you can get caught in the field yourself and believe me it doesn’t feel good. As long as you’re an arm’s length away, that should be enough.”
