Drayce almost laughed out loud at Lillia’s excessively uncomfortable expression as she stepped into the bedroom in a pair of black trousers and one of Drayce’s shirts. They had been able to find some trousers that were small enough to fit Lillia comfortably, but the shirt was a tad loose on her. It made her appear smaller than she actually was. She wasn’t particularly short but was slight of frame.
But contrary to original thought, it would help her fit in better. The lower-class often times didn’t have the money to buy clothing, so the clothing they did get their hands on weren’t always the best fitting.
Her long red hair was pulled back in a coil at the base of her neck. They were going to have her wear a cloak to fully disguise her figure and a hat to cover her brightly colored hair, as well as cover the tips of her ears.
She dropped to one knee, lacing up and tying her boots. “This is awful. I can’t believe you wear this every day.” She said with disgust.
“I think you’ll find it much more convenient than worrying about a full skirt and disguising your ankles.” Drayce pointed out.
“There’s no need to disguise anything when you can clearly make out the contours of my legs!” She added embarrassed. Her cheeks tinged with pink. He was truly surprised she had agreed to this. He had clearly underestimated her.
Caelum opened the door and stopped short when he saw Lillia. “I’m sorry, I clearly misunderstood. Is she coming?” Caelum asked surprised.
“Yes.” Drayce said reluctantly.
“She’s pregnant you cad.” Caelum said. “What wrong with you?”
“She’s also in the room with you.” Lillia pointed out.
“I tried to dissuade her. She tricked me.” Drayce said rubbing a hand over his face.
“I did not trick you. You just thought I wouldn’t take your bait.” Lillia said.
Caelum’s eyes flicked down her legs. “Eyes on the face, man.” Drayce said harshly.
Both Lillia and Caelum blushed. “Was that the deal? That she wears pants?” Caelum asked.
Drayce nodded. “I didn’t think she would agree.”
“You thought wrong.” Lillia said slightly smug.
Ella Rose entered in behind Caelum. Her hand flew to her breast. “Good gracious Non! Lillia are you dressed like a man?”
“Not of my own volition.” Lillia said looking at Drayce pointedly.
“Yes, of your volition.” Drayce said. “You could’ve chosen to stay in your dress and stay here.
“No.” Caelum said. “If Drayce isn’t going to put his foot down, I will. Lillia you are not coming.”
“Yes I am.” Lillia insisted stubbornly.
“No, you aren’t. If this is too dangerous for Drayce, it’s definitely too dangerous for you. What would you be able to contribute?” Caelum said.
“Reconnaissance. Or look out. I’ll be able to get information much easier than two men dressed in Kamasian uniform.” Lillia said. She didn’t know if they would even need that, but it was the only thing she could think of. “A woman with seedy morals, hence the pants, will be able to get information easily.” Lillia blushed at her own suggestion.
