I sit in the guest room holding my phone, debating whether or not to call Taehyung and ask him to come over. I need him to help me with something.

My mother was asleep in her room when I got to the house so she doesn't know I'm here. I left a note on her bedside table for when she wakes up so that she knows.

Wendy's at Joy's house working on a project right now so that gives me the perfect opportunity to get help.

I'm going to tell Wendy how I feel.

I don't know why all of a sudden, I just feel so much more confident with her. I can be myself with her. I'm my best self when I'm with her.

I text Taehyung.

I: can you come over?

T: uh

T: rn?

I: yes I need your help with something important

T: I'm with Yoongi rn so he's gonna have to come too

I: whatever, just don't be obvious

T: ?

I: just get over here

T: you're at Wendy's right?

I: yes now hurry up

The doorbell to Wendy's house rings about ten minutes later. I run downstairs and open the door to see Taehyung and Yoongi, who's chewing gum like always. Yoongi winks at me as he walks inside.

"What did you need help with?" Taehyung asks.

"Sit down first," I say, taking them to the lounge area. I sit on the big couch and they sit on individual chairs. "I need your help because I'm going to tell them how I feel."

"What?" Yoongi and Taehyung say at the same time.

"That's great!" Taehyung adds on. "When are you doing it?"

"I don't know," I say. "But I want to practice."

"Wait, aren't you two dating?" Yoongi asks.

"No, we're not, for the last time," Taehyung says. "I already told you a million times."

"It got to the point where you started walking with her instead of us, we had a right to assume," Yoongi says. "Anyway, who do you like?"

"You don't need to know," I say. "You can just offer me advice."

"If I'm going to help you, shouldn't I know who you're confessing to?" he asks.

"I only wanted Taehyung to come anyway, so you can just leave then," I say.

"Fine," Yoongi mutters.

"Okay, what were you planning on saying?" Taehyung asks. "Pretend I'm her and-"

He's so clueless. I make a face at him and gesture to Yoongi. He looks at me then at Yoongi and realizes his mistake. "Pretend I'm him, I mean! I'm so clumsy! Anyway, just-"

"I get it," I say, stopping him. I take a deep breath. "Okay. Well. I like you. I like you a lot."

"Is that it?" he asks. "You gotta say more than just that."

"What do you want me to say?" I ask. "I don't know what else to say."

"Are you two already friends?" Yoongi asks. I nod. He continues, "Well, then make sure you say that you don't have to be friends with him anymore in case he's weirded out. Put yourself in his shoes. One of your friends just confessed to you. What would you do?"

"Well, I'd listen," I say. "If they were a really good friend, then, of course, I would still want to be friends with them. But if it was someone I barely knew, I probably wouldn't want to be their friend anymore."

"Well, if you're good friends, then I'd assume he'd want everything to stay the same," Yoongi says. "But you should still tell him anyway. He needs to know your feelings."

"I didn't know you were this considerate," I laugh.

"He's not like this with me," Taehyung says. "This isn't normal behaviour."

"I've been there before," Yoongi rolls his eyes. "Except mine ended badly. It would suck for you to go through the same thing, especially after everything else that happened. Jennie's a bitch, by the way."

I smile. "I know."

"Anyway, keep practicing," Yoongi says.

Wendy comes home about an hour later. I'm still practicing with Taehyung and Yoongi so I get a heart attack when I hear the door open. She walks into the kitchen to get a snack and sees us in the lounge area.

"Oh," Wendy says. "Hi, guys?"

Yoongi waves. "Wassup?"

"Hi," Taehyung says.

"What are you doing here?" she asks, sitting beside me.

"We were helping Irene with something," Yoongi says. "Something about confess-"

"Hey, Yoongi, let's go!" Taehyung says, getting up quickly. "Jimin's calling us. We're late for the party!"

"There is no party today," Yoongi says.

"Well, I'll see you on Monday, Irene!" Taehyung says, pushing Yoongi outside.

Wendy stares. "What was that about?"

"Oh, they were just helping me with some math," I lie. "I would've asked you but you were at Joy's."

"Oh, cool," Wendy says. "Do you want to talk about earlier?"

I bite my lip. She's talking about Jennie and everything. The truth is, I do want to talk about it, but I'll probably start crying again. I don't want to keep crying in front of Wendy, I feel like I'm putting pressure on her when I cry and she doesn't know how to help.

"No, I'm fine," I lie.

"Okay," she says. "Don't worry about the apartment by the way. My parents will buy it back for you, and we'll pay the rent until you can get back on your feet again."

"You don't have to," I say.

"We don't have to, but we will," Wendy says. "It's the least I can do after everything you've done for me."

"What have I done for you?" I ask.

"You calm me down," Wendy says. "You help me sleep better. You just make me a lot happier in general. I don't know why, but you help me a lot."

I smile. "Really?"

She nods. "Mhm."

"Thank you," I say.

We spend the next few hours working on schoolwork together before going back downstairs to eat our dinner. Her mother cooked hangover stew, and even though I'm not particularly a fan of it, there was something about her mother's cooking that I really enjoyed.

When I go to sleep, I can't stop thinking about what Wendy said to me. She said I calmed her down. She said I made her happy. I wonder what else I make her feel. Whatever it is, I'm so happy that I make her feel that way.

Maybe there's a small chance that she returns feelings for me, but I shouldn't get ahead of myself like that. We're good friends. Friends make each other happy.

But part of me still wants to believe.
