6- Snipes, Snails, and Puppy Dog Tails
Trunks rubbed his eyes as he finished pouring himself a cup of coffee. He sat down at the table next to Hana, who was enjoying a breakfast of eggs and bacon. "What are we doing today, Princess?" He asked.
"Playing!" Hana answered with a mouthful of food.
"And what else?"
"Watchin' dinosaurs!"
"Playing and watching dinosaurs," Trunks chuckled. The life of an almost three-year-old was so simple and fun.
The backdoor opened up loudly, and Goten jumped inside with a grin. "Honey, I'm home!"
"Ten!" Hana greeted with a squeal. She jumped up from her seat and rushed towards him.
Trunks sighed loudly. "Go away."
Goten caught Hana and hugged her tightly as he gasped at Trunks. "How could you? This is our tenth Valentine's Day together, and you want to throw me out?" He asked dramatically.
"Yes," Trunks nodded. "Get out."
"If Goten has to get out, does that mean I have to leave too?" A familiar voice asked, and Trunks felt himself sit up straighter.
"Of course, you can stay, Panna," he told her.
Pan grinned as she walked in with a giant red gift bag swinging from her arm. In her hand, she held two balloons. One was in the shape of a blue T-Rex with a heart that said, 'you make my heart saur,' which made Trunks snort. The other balloon was just a giant red heart.
"Panny!" Hana wiggled until Goten sat her down, and she ran over to Pan.
"Hanny! Just the girl I wanted to see," she said as she hugged Hana. "These are for you -" she held out the balloons.
"For me?!" Hana laughed. "T-Rex!" She yelled in excitement as he hugged the balloons.
Pan laughed, "and look, Hanny-" she reached inside the giant red gift bag and pulled out a pink dinosaur onesie. "Now, you can be a dinosaur, too! And-" she pulled out some candy. "Happy Valentine's Day, sweetheart," she leaned down and kissed Hana's forehead.
Trunks blinked as a strange feeling stirred in his stomach. Was he seriously jealous of his daughter? No- it couldn't be. It wasn't like Pan owed him any candy, and if anyone was to get some, it should be Hana.
"Where's mine?!" Goten gasped. "I'm your brother!"
"So?" Pan raised an eyebrow. "What does that have to do with anything?"
"So!" Goten places his hands on his hips. "I practically raised you."
"Like heck you did!"
"I bathed you."
"No-"
"I tucked you in at night."
"You would tell me scary stories and give me nightmares!"
"I showered you with love and attention!"
"Basically, he gave you nightmares and trauma," Trunks commented.
"Exactly," Pan agreed with a nod.
Goten's eyes widened as he looked back and forth between Trunks and Pan. "You know what? You two have really been ganging up on me lately, and I don't like it."
"You poor, poor thing," Pan pretended to wipe her eyes. "Calm down," she said before she pulled a pink bag from the red bag and handed it to Goten. To Trunks' surprise, she pulled out one more and gave it to him with a smile. "This is thanks for everything," she told him gently as she sat down with Hana so she could help her with her candy.
