~Teto's POV~

"M-Macne Nana?" The crowd murmured and moved out of the way as she walked to the front of the room. Bouncy green hair, black and white outfit. She looked familiar, as if I'd seen her around. I don't think she had very many friends. Suddenly I felt my stomach twist in guilt. I should've talked to her, I thought. But I can't now, because everyone is going to try to be her friend just because she's becoming a Vocaloid.

So instead I cheered, and soon Momo clapped along with me. "Congratulations, Nana!"

Across the room, I saw Uta and Koe join in, and then even more people until the whole room was cheering for Macne Nana. She was flushed with happiness.

Charlotte's friend Don the Vocaloid producer (who I was assuming was more than a friend) showed up out of nowhere and ushered both Nana and Charlotte out the door, where they got into a car and drove off.

The other Utauloids realized the show was over and went back to what they were doing previously. I sighed and decided to retreat back to my room. Don't get me wrong, I was happy for Nana, glad a Utau could become a Vocaloid, but I was... jealous? How selfish can you get? A little voice in my head scolded as I curled up on top of my bed.

I changed my line of thought to what the Vocaloids thought of all this. I giggled a little when I realized how furious Miku must be.

Out of my entire seven months, this was definitely the cruddiest I'd ever felt. I stared at the ceiling for what seemed like forever, thinking about everything and nothing at the same time.

After who knows how long, Ted opened the door. "Knock, knock," he said, peeking inside.

"Hi, Teddy," I said, not taking my gaze off the ceiling.

He entered the room and sat on the edge of the bed, next to me. "I heard you cheering for Nana out there. You have a good heart, you know."

"Yeah," I mumbled, turning over.

"What's wrong?" He asked, placing a hand on my arm and tugging slightly so I would turn and look at him. "Are you jealous?"

I turned my head ever so slightly to look at him. "I guess I'm pretty selfish, huh?"

"Teto," he pulled my arms so I would sit up. "It's okay to be a little envious when someone gets something you want, as long as you don't let your jealousy control you. And you didn't."

"Yeah, I guess you're right," I responded staring at my feet. "It's just that I've wanted this so bad..."

"There's something I've always wanted to know."

"What?"

"Why?" asked Ted. "Why do you want to be a Vocaloid?"

I found myself struggling to answer. "Because Vocaloids don't get teased and picked on by Hatsune Miku."

"Oh," Ted pulled me into a hug. "Is she still teasing you?"

"Well, no, not recently, she's probably being distracted with Macne Nana and all," I responded. "But that doesn't mean I'm off her radar."

"Don't let her get in your head," he said, running his fingers through my hair. "Because that's exactly what she wants."

"I'm not, I'm not," I insisted. "I just want people to like me, Ted,"

"I like you. Your friends like you. Charlotte likes you."

"That's not what I mean," I said, pulling away. "You don't understand."
