In Quantumtale With GasterIt started out as a normal Tuesday for Gaster. He woke up bright and early. So early that the sun hasn't risen yet. He got up and made toast and coffee to wake himself up a bit. He wasn't scheduled to work that week due to the Royal Gathering coming up in four days.
He was going to continue teaching Sans and Papyrus to be on their best behavior. However, he knew that Chronos would be able to keep them in line and allow them to have a great time. His eldest was always one to make things work. He knew Chronos would make his brother's happy while not getting into trouble unless Fate's design were to get in the way.
Either way, Gaster felt like he should at least teach his sons for when Chronos wasn't around. He felt that it would come in handy later on knowing he wouldn't be there to see his sons mature. So he felt that teaching them as much as he can would be enough for him before he left them to fend for themselves. Even if he had full faith in Chronos's ability to care for them, he worried that Chronos would still have trouble providing for them.
Gaster continues the day by making breakfast for his sons until he woke them up to eat. Despite it being nine in the morning, Gaster was still teaching his sons proper etiquette. Thankfully for him, his sons picked up what they learned fairly easy. He was glad Chronos helped point out that Sans was a hands on and auditory learner, all the while Papyrus was a hands and visual learner. It helped him teach them through their strengths.
Once breakfast was over and everything was cleaned up, a familiar sound caught everyone's attention. It was a sound they made sure to memorize since there was only one person whose magic makes that sound. It was the sound of a portal, even if there was now the soft ticking sound with the very quiet static, they knew who was there.
"Chronos!" Papyrus and Sans shouted in unison. They came running from their room to see the portal that belonged to their big brother. They really missed Chronos and were excited to continue their routine they had with learning how to cook, playing, and magic training.
Gaster chuckled as he wiped his hands dry and leaned against the wall in between the dining room and living room. He was relieved that his son decided to return early. Sans and Papyrus kept asking when he would return and were getting very impatient. They really missed Chronos and took to sleeping in his bed. He found it endearing, but not when they kept him up.
Chronos stepped through the portal. Gaster was going to greet him when another figure came through as well. At first, Gaster tensed up until he reasoned with himself that Chronos would never bring dangerous people home. He relaxed slightly as he saw that the skeleton came up to his eye sockets in height. Gaster sensed the light aura in the skeleton's magic and the look of awe on that face.
"Welcome home, Chronos," Gaster greeted. "Glad you made it home safely. Who did you bring home with you?"
"I'm Paper Crane," the tall skeleton greeted excitedly. "I'm Chronos' younger brother! Who are you!?"
Gaster gawked at that as his mouth hung wide open. Sans and Papyrus were amazed that someone so tall was younger than their older brother. Then a thought hit Papyrus as he came to a realization.
"Does that mean you're our brother too!?" Papyrus asked in excitement.
"i gUeSs iT DoEs," Chronos said. "yOu tWo aRe aLsO My yOuNgEr bRoThErS, sO By eXtEnT, pApEr cRaNe iS AlSo yOuR BrOtHeR. i tHiNk hE'S AlSo yOuNgEr tHaN BoTh oF YoU In aGe. "Okay!" Sans and Papyrus said in unison. They each grabbed a hold of Paper Crane's hands and dragged him away. They were excited to show their new brother around, just as much as Paper Crane was excited to play with his new brothers.
