Tranquil Conversation

Ink's POV

Thirty minutes, that's how long Error and I had been sat in silence for. This wasn't unnecessarily odd to say the least, but it was uncomfortable. He had done nothing but stare at the wall the entire time, he didn't even bother looking at me.

"Hey.."

"Quiet." 

"Why?"

"There's a spider on the wall and I'm watching it."

I turned to the wall and noticed that there was, indeed, a spider crawling along it. So that's what he had been watching the entire time. Did he really like watching a spider more than talking to me? 

"I wouldn't have thought you could see it with how bad your eyesight is."

"It's not that bad, most people just play it up a lot."

"Liar~"

"Hah, not likely. It's pretty easy to see certain shit, like if there was a speck of black on a white wall I'd be able to see that."

"Ohh.. but the wall in front of us is grey so-"

"Dark purple."

"Huh?"

"It's dark purple."

"Is it?"

"Yeah. Or, well, I hope it is anyway since that's what I asked Nightmare to paint it."

"I mean, I guess it's sorta dark purple? To me it looks grey but.. ya know."

"Hmm, I'll have to ask him about it later."

"Hey, Error?"

"What is it?"

"I never got to ask you about yourself since ya know, we've been enemies up until this point.."

"Just ask whatever you want."

"...Is Error really your name?"

"What? Of course it is, why wouldn't it be?"

"Well, Error just seems like a bit of an odd name. Nightmare makes sense since it's a nickname the villagers gave him from what Dream told me. The rest of the Gang's names are also just nicknames.. so your name.. it doesn't really have a backstory."

Error pointed to the error signs all over his body.

"The signs, that's where it comes from."

"Yeah but like, is that your real name or is it like a fake name or..? Because I can't find anything about you in the AU database."

"I mean, I guess it could be classed as a nickname? I've always thought of it as my real name, but since I just appeared in the Anti-void I could have a backstory and name that I'm not aware of."

"Have you thought about recovered-memory therapy?"

"I have, but I decided it's too much effort and whatever happened that forced me into the Anti-void.. I'd rather not know about it."

"Huh? Wouldn't it help to know what happened?"

"Maybe it would help, but I've already decided I don't want to remember. That's for another me to remember."

"You're aware there's different versions of you..?"

"Why wouldn't I be?"

"Uhh.. I just thought you wouldn't look too deep into it. Anyway, when's your birthday?"
