Improper Miscalculation

Ink's POV

Opening the door to Nightmare's office, I realised I probably should've knocked first when I saw Nightmare halfway out his window.. what was he doing?

"Uhh.."

Nightmare turned to face me and stared at me for a few seconds, unmoving. He cleared his throat and climbed back in, gesturing for me to sit in the chair as he did so. I reluctantly sat down on the chair as he did the same with his chair, what the fuck was he doing climbing out of a window?

"So.. uh.."

"I was attempting suicide again, please excuse what you just saw."

"Uh.. haha.. you probably shouldn't joke about that.."

"I wasn't joking. Anyway, what did you want to talk about?"

"I mean, I came here to ask about artificial Souls but now? Can we talk about your mental health?"

"..My mental health is fine, I just have these.. moments. Why did you want to talk about artificial Souls?"

I contemplated asking Nightmare more about his mental health, but I ultimately decided it wasn't my place to talk to him about it. I'm sure one of the other Gang members would confront him about what was going on, right?

"Well, I was thinking about maybe.. making an artificial Soul for me..? I dunno, I feel like it'd be for the best if I had a Soul! I've sorta always wanted to know how having one is and refilling my vials all the time is kinda annoying, ya know?"

"An artificial Soul for you? That's a good idea but.. I'm not sure if making something like that is possible."

"Artificial Souls exist sooo.. what's the problem?"

"Artificial Souls exist, yes, but you know how everyone's magic is different, we'd have to take into account your magic style, your skeletal structure, all that type of stuff. Of course it'd be possible, however I can't guarantee it'd be a quick procedure; in simple terms we'd have to try a lot of different shit and see what works and what doesn't."

I blinked at Nightmare a few times, not sure of what to think.

"..Is that a yes or a no?"

"It's a maybe, but it's mainly a yes. It'll take some time, but with some info searching and experiments we should be able to do it."

"Really?!"

"Mhm, but.. you've had a long day today, do you want to sleep?"

"That's suspicious, do you have a Mission for me?"

"Not really a Mission, you just have to watch some of the inhabitants of the AU I send you to, figure out what they're doing at this time of night."

"If Dream comes along?"

"Wouldn't he and Blue be asleep at the moment? I'm unsure of their sleep schedules, but I would've thought they would have a normal one."

"I dunno, Blue would be asleep but Dream's sleep schedule is all over the place. I think he explained it as he stays up for twelve hours then another two?"

"..So fourteen hours awake then he goes to sleep?"

"I dunno, he specifically said twelve hours then another two."

"You remember that with your shit memory?"

"I only remember it 'cuz it was such a weird thing to say, like why didn't he just say fourteen hours?"
