PERRIE

Having been out of town for a week for business stuff,  I just came back and thought this was the best thing to do first.  While I was away,  I could not help but to think for Jade and worry about her.  I left town a few days after the incident of her falling down the stairs and it made me want to come home within that week to check on her.

I knocked at her door,  holding the bouquet of tulips in hand. I chose them to let her know that this was a  friendly gesture,  not the suitor stuff which comes with roses,  usually. even though we both know already that I am definitely in love with her, I'd like to keep it low because she was clear to say that she is not ready for intimacy yet. Bringing her these though was to make her feel better and know that she has  friend who cares,  especially because of that injury from last time.

"Who are you?" a man answered the door He was dressed in pajamas and looked as if he had just woken up. his frown said he was irritated to find someone with a fancy bouquet standing at his front door. But of course this surprised me too. In the weeks that I have known Jade, I knew that no one except her sister lived with her. It would definitely hurt me if I found out that this is her boyfriend! That would mean she has been lying to me all along and I don't want to think that.  Or has she moved without my knowing in the week that I was not here?  I would not think so though. even though she hasn't been very open about her past,  except the fact about Jesy  she has been sharing to me future plans and wracking my brain for any, I don't recall a time when she ever said anything about leaving this house. on the contrary,  actually,  she mentioned of redecorating.

"uhhm Hi! " I greeted the man with a little smile.  if I wanted to see Jade,  I should at least be friendly enough to this guy so he can give me the information if in case the suspicion of her moving is accurate.  "I'm here to see Miss Jade."

"Went to the grocer." he answered flatly. "Who are you? " and he sounded suspecting.

I held out my free hand for a shake. "I'm Perrie  she teaches my neice and we are friends now."

"Karl. " he shook my hand and stepped a little too the side. "come in if you want to wait for her. "

This is making me more anxious of who this guy was.  why would he be sleeping in Jade's house? This I knew because his pajamas indicated so and the couch in the living room had a bunch of blankets that screamed "someone's just been using us"

I entered the house,  still keeping that smile even though this is awkward. Who is he?

He sat back on the couch after closing the door behind us.

"I'm glad she has a friend around here." His face somehow looked brighter than earlier, though his talking about her that way made me think that she meant a lot to him, making me go back to doubting that I had a chance with her.

"I'm just happy that I am." I just answered.

"Good. " He nodded. "I knew I could never be there for her always, so it's great that she has you."

He sighed, I could not tell whether out of relief or exasperation. "How I wish I could stay here much longer and take care of my litter sister. "

My turn to sigh and this I'm sure is out of relief. At least I could confirm that she did not lie to me. That Angel? I should have thought better.

"How long have you been friends? " Karl asked.

I thought for a bit and replied,  "A little over three months."

"Any other friends?"

While it was true that we have been friends for those months, Jade hasn't introduced me to any other friends at all. I don't even know a lot about her yet,  except the fact that she is relaxing to be with and that she had he sister living here with her. And I haven't even seen that sister yet. And at that I remembered what to tell him.
"None she has told me about"

"I would not be surprised if you're the only one. She was always selective of friends ever since she was young. You know,  she was bullied and hit by kids before who fronted as her friends. I sure hope you aren't just like them,  if you're the only friend she got here."

"I'm sure I really am her friend... " I wanted to add that I actually want to be more than that category. "And I'm sure I'm not the only friend she got." I looked towards the door next to her room. "I'm  sure she and Jesy will get along well again."

Karl looked at me wide eyed. "She talks about her again.?"

I nodded. It puzzled me why he suddenly has that look in his eyes that made me fell as if I said something wrong.  Not the angry stare but a stare that would make anyone cringe and feel guilty.

"We don't... " Karl suddenly cut off what he was to say as the front door swung open and in came the brunette that I came here for.

"I'm back. " She gladly sang. Then she looked my way as Karl was still looking at me.

She put the bags she was holding down by the door and ran to me,  surprising me with a hug.

"Oh Perrie! "

"Hey Princess. "

That earned me another curious look from Karl. But then,  he stood up from the couch where he was sitting and took the bags from where Jade placed them.

"Let me take care of these." and when he straightened up,  he leaned in very close to my ear and whispered,  "Don't talk to her about Jesy. You don't wanna hurt her more than she already is"
