So, this is one of the stories that I said I might post. It's a "scary story" but honestly it isn't scary at all. It's just surprising I guess. It was supposed to be a narrative about change embedded assessment for my reading class, but our teacher changed it to a "scary story" since Halloween was coming up. Anyways, when reading this, be careful not to pee your pants! XD
The "Vicious" Vampire
As they smiled up at me, I thought once again how lucky I was to have them as my best friends. I knew they would do anything for me and that I could completely trust and rely on them... or could I? Now that I look back on it, I realize that a lot of things could've happened... that could've stopped this from happening... but it did.
In ninthgrade, I wasn't very popular. After my first week of high school, my parents suddenly announced that they wanted to move to a city with better weather conditions. I barely had time to pack up before we were on our way to San Francisco, CA. I enrolled in Lowell High School, which was supposedly the best high school in the area, but the best high school in the world couldn't have made a difference to me. What I wanted was to have my old life back, but I knew that it was impossible. So, I had to start my life all over again from scratch. I loathed the fact that I built my circle of friends, just to have it come crashing down on me. I despised doing everything by myself, having no choice since everyone avoided the new kid, me. This is all part of the reason why my life was saved by a few students named Katie, Josh, and Austin.
They all had different personalities, but I thought that's why they were unique and why we got along so well. We each knew that our differences were our talents, and we often used them to get out of trouble. I guess you could call us partners in crime. Katie was the most popular one out of all of us. In fact, she was the most popular person in our school! She could always find nice things to say about someone, even when you think that no human being could be more vile. Katie was the one that gave us a shoulder to cry on, and the person that always understood. She acted like our big sister, and she was the one that we all looked up to. If Katie was the older sister, then Josh was the older brother. He was sometimes moody, but he always knew how to handle tough situations, like questions that put you on the spot, embarrassing moments, and situations where it seemed like there was no way out. Josh was very protective, especially of Katie and me, since we were the ones that tended to get teased the most. Austin was the class clown, and sometimes I thought that he was the funniest person on Earth. He created funny nicknames for each of us and for me it was "cutie" because he knew I was a tomboy. Austin always had a way to make us laugh, even in the most horrifying times, which is why when he's between a rock and a hard place, he always laughs out of his troubles.
From the day I joined my new high school, they had included me in their tightly knitted group. Since I met them, my troubles began slither away, and before I knew it, there were only three weeks until the quarter ended. However, the one trouble that didn't leave me was the pain that grasped me when I tried to glance at shards of my former life like scruffy old toys, faded leather photo albums, and other memories of my old life. On that day, I had finally decided to include my belongings in my new bedroom while I was remembering my friends that were once in my life. I was so deep in thought that I didn't notice my friends coming up to greet me until Katie asked,
"Hey Becky, you look like you're busy, but are ya still coming to hang out at my house?"
