Chapter Eighteen:
I met Zak at the witch’s house and we went in together. She was seated in the same chair as before, flipping through the same book. As soon as she saw us she slammed the book close and looked up at us with wide eyes, her gaze locking on the amulet dangling between my fingers. She smiled appraisingly and nodded.
“Well, it looks like you’ve found my amulet. Sigh, a deal’s a deal. I guess that I’ll have to give you that name now, huh?” she said.
“Yes please.” We said in unison.
She opened the book again and tore out a sheet of paper, folding it up and handing it to me.
“Say this name in front of her and her true form with be shown. But you’ll have to kill her in order to banish her and your human form is not your strongest, so just know that her true form will not be the only one revealed in the battle.”
I thought for a moment on her words and then gasped.
“There has to be some other-“
“If you want the creature gone and your mate safe, sacrifices will have to be made Calla. And if you aren’t willing then I am afraid that you have just wasted your precious time on a meaningless task. You did express to me that you were dedicated to this cause correct?”
I nodded.
“Then you know what you must do. Now hurry! There is much to be done in order for your plan to work and I am of no use to you anymore!”
I and Zak were shoved out of the cabin by an unseen force. But before she closed the door she winked at me.
“Good luck, Mystery Wolf.”

The next day was chaotic.
Payton had officially told the pack that Terran would be the official ‘Luna’ when he took over at the Alpha ceremony and everyone was rushing to get things prepared. My parents were working with the Alpha to ensure that all of the pack boundaries were sealed off so no intruders would come forth. But I knew that Terran was probably planning for them all to attack once she was announced the official ‘Luna’. But I was ensuring that it wasn’t going to happen, with the help of Zak of course.
Currently, I’m getting ready in my room.
The ‘Alpha ceremony’ is a big deal and my mother insisted that I dress up for it. It’s almost like a wedding. Although it doesn’t matter because it’s all going to get ruined anyways, but she doesn’t know that. I’m wearing a floor-length purple off the shoulder dress with black lace. Did I want to wear something this extravagant? No. Was my mother making me? Yes. She also felt bad because my mate was getting hitched to another woman. But she didn’t tell me that. I could just see it in her eyes every time she looked at me. I think she was secretly trying to get me to show him what he’s missing, which was sort of hilarious to me.
I tried to call Emily, but it went straight to voicemail. Of all the days you could be mad at me you choose this one! Really Emily, really!? Talk about bad timing.
“Calla! It’s time to leave for the ceremony!” my mother called from downstairs.
I grabbed my sheet of paper and ran out of the door.
Showtime.
