(Y/n)'s POV

As soon as we got off the bus, we were greeted by the fresh scent of the mountain breeze, followed by the cheerful chirping of the birds. Though unfortunately, some of the boys couldn't appreciate the moment as they were still exhausted. Ukai-san woke the remaining people in the bus, while the others stretched and yawn.

"Ah! I'm fired up!" Hinata-kun exclaimed, jumping around, observing the place. "Jeez, how are you getting that kind of energy." Kageyama-kun yawned, coming towards the boy.

I smiled at the duo's goofiness and complementary. Surprisingly, Kageyama-kun seemed to have noticed my gaze, as we found ourselves looking back at each other.

Though it only lasted a moment after he quickly diverted his eyes from mine. "Come on, let's check out the rooms!" Noya-san ran inside the tavern-like house excitedly.

"How could you get ahold of this place, Takeda-sensei?" Sawamura-san turned to the man. "Oh, I have a friend who owns this summer house and he let me use it for a while for Karasuno's training camp." he explained.

The team scattered around, looking around the house. Turns out, the interior mimicked the traditional Japanese house, almost like a bathhouse.

We all chose our designated room, as I had to share mine with Shimizu-san. "I'll be putting my stuff here, Shimizu-san." I dropped my bags on the other corner of the room. "Okay, I'll put mine here." she mumbled, placing hers across the room.

Ukai-san recommended that we all rest and enjoy the house for now as we'll be starting out training first thing tomorrow.

I walked around the house, observing the interior design. Turns out, I bumped into Kageyama-kun making us slightly surprised by the presence of each other.

"Walking around?" he brought up, as I simply nodded. He was already wearing his loose sweatpants along with his sweater, carrying his gym bag and a volleyball. "You're already training?" I scanned his body. "Ah, yeah. I don't have anything to do anyway." he shrugged. "Then it's the perfect time to do your request." I smiled.

We found ourselves at a large space close to the house.

"Okay, so what I basically do is use my 6th sense per se'." I crossed my arms while explaining as he nodded along, listening attentively. "Not only that, I also observe my opponents' line up, which is a little difficult at first since it requires for you to think on the spot and watch attentively." I added.

"So let's say, the opponents' blocking from the right, it makes sense you toss the ball on the left. Right?" He nodded in reply. "But in some cases, there can also be someone guarding the left side so you're left with a decision: risk it or do what you're used to."

"Of course, the obvious answer is choosing what you've already accustomed to since you're confident of the possible occurrences and effect, but unfortunately it can never be 100%" I turned to him, quickly tossing the ball. He caught it perfectly.

"Basically, what I'm trying to get at is choosing neither." He furrowed his brows in confusion, continuing to look at me. "Because it's already too late to think about your next attack as the opponents were already secured." I shrugged, yet he continued to look confused. "You see, Kageyama-kun there's no actual trick. It relies on the skill of quick thinking."

"How would you know your opponents' next line up if you're thinking ahead of it?" he asked, tilting his head. "I rely on probability."

Kageyama's POV

"I rely on probability" she presented a faint smile, but somehow it seemed so gloomy. "Do you know why I got Ni-chi as a nickname back then?" she then looked up the sky, somehow in deep thought.

"'Cause they said it took me 2 out of 1 sets to win a game. Do you know what set is that one lose?" Now, she looked back at me presenting a cold smile. "It's the first one. It's always the first one." she sighs. "Of course, there are circumstances that we've lost the 2nd set but majority it's always the 1st." this time, her gloomy aura seemed to fade away while it turned into something blank, unreadable.

"Why is that?" I asked, "'Cause I think of the 1st set to be the evaluation part. I observe their line-up, strengths, weaknesses, and skills." she listed. "So many in one set." I mumbled followed by a faint chuckle from her. "I know right, but this 'trick' isn't always gonna turn out right, sometimes it can led to confusion especially when the opponents' accustomed to change their line-up and plans on the spot. Basically, this trick just goes for the majority." she raised her index finger, while explaining.

"And as for the majority, frequently, it may seem that they could change their plan that easily, but in reality? They're just tweaking line-up here and there. All you need is strategy." Again, with that blank smile.

I didn't know the reason why but something told me that I should end this conversation. She seemed upset and held aback, like something was bothering her.

Time flew by fast. We ended up spending the entire day training and figuring out techniques that could help me. Fortunately, (y/n)-chan was patient enough to bear my perfectionism.

We sat by the warm grass, watching the sun illuminate the place in an orange tint. We looked up to the sky, as our panting and the mountain breese was the only think that could be heard. "Toru-kun... messaged me." she suddenly brought up, making me flicj by her sudden statement. "Yeah? What'd he say?" I looked at her, yet she remained her eyes on the sky. "I didn't see... I blocked his number." her eyes seemed more sad and vulnerable, the beauty of the surroundings didn't seem to touch her as she felt more bothered by her bitter heartbreak. "That's for the best." I stated, turning back to the sky.

"Why is it... even if he left me. I still keep choosing him?" her brows furrowed as she sighed. This time, I remained silent.

I was unsure of what I was supposed to say, heck, I didn't even know where to start. It's not like I was experienced in that kind of stuff. The only thing close was my crush back in middle school, and I didn't even bother asking her out, nor talking to her.

"I'm sorry, I shouldn't... bother you with my problems." finally, she looked back at me, presenting a seemingly sad smile.

Again, the silence consumed the moment. We let the light from the sun slowly fade as the tension arises. "It's fine, we're friends. Friends talk about these kinds of things to feel better, right?" She seemed surprised by my statement. She took a moment to gather and process what I've said, followed with another smile. Yet this one was different. It was warm, thankful, happy.

"Right, we're friends!" she came closer, enough for us to feel each others' presence. "Then, don't hesitate to open up to me too!" she held out her pinky. I smiled, embracing out pinkies together. "Right, I should." I mumbled.

The next day, and the next day, and the next one passed by which contained of us training for the upcoming competition. Everyone was fired up yet nervous at the same time.

We finally went back home, exhausted and scared of the fate we'll be facing against at the competition.
