(Y/n)'s POV

The day of the competition came. We found ourselves sitting in silence in the waiting room before we could head out the court. Ukai-san gave a few speech at the boys, somehow reassuring them.

Fired up, the men walked out and ran towards the court, surrounded by a crowd of different people that came to watch. Each schools put up a banner by the railings as they cheered their cheers.

I scanned the stadium and saw Dateko's banner. I felt nostalgia rush over me, where everything was easier back then.

As soon as I walked by the benches I felt eyes on me. "Hey, Isn't that the chick from Aoba Johsai last year?" "Oh, number (j/n)? during Inter-high?" "Yeah! She also killed that one match back in middle school!" "But why is she in Karasuno though?" "Talk about a major downgrade." "Isn't she dating Oikawa-san?" "Hahahahaha! that was just a rumor, dude."

I heard multiple men whisper and gossip to each other. I wasn't sure if they were making sure I heard it or it was a coincidence how they didn't realize I could, considering the already loud cheering from the crowd. "Don't mind them." I heard a familiar voice and felt its presence behind me. I quickly turned around, looking up at the person.

It was Kageyama-kun. He looked down on me with a worried expression, furrowing his brows. "Thank you." Yet, I could only present a smile of relief.

I scanned the stadium crowds once again, fortunately, Aoba Johsai wasn't there which lifted the weights off my back. I turned back to the boys once the referee whistled its whistle continuously. It turns out, we were against Nekoma. The crowd's anticipation rose up when they finally saw the two in duel once again, according to some, Karasuno and Nekoma is one of the most anticipated fight since both had a history together.

"Good luck!" I shouted as the boys were about to walk on the court yet immediately looked back after my call out. Some presented a big smile while the others simply nodded.

Oddly, I felt a shiver down my spine, as if someone was watching me. I looked around; from the crowd, behind me, and finally at Nekoma's players. Turns out the man with bleached ends and sharp eyes was looking at me, when I realized his gaze he didn't look away. He continued to observe me.

I wondered to myself that the man looked familiar yet you've sworn you've never seen him before. Maybe he had one of those faces?

Kenma's POV

Huh, how ironic.

"It's time to line up." someone tapped my shoulder, cutting me off from my gaze. I turned around and saw Kuroo stand in front of me, looking confused. "Don't tell me you're in a daze now? We'll be playing." he groaned, after following where I was looking. "I-I won't! L-let's go!" I tugged his jersey, "Geez, okay. But you better explain later why you're staring like a creep at Karasuno's assistant coach." he rolled his eyes, finally walking away.

Assistant coach? Is that girl really for real?

I took a last glance at the girl, she sat properly on the bench, clasping her hands together nervously.

(Y/n)'s POV

Time flew and the crowds grew wilder. Fortunately after winning one out of two sets, Karasuno was catching up in the third one. Everyone's exhaustion was starting to show, yet it eased my mind when they also seemed like they were enjoying every minute of it, including grumpy people like Kageyama-kun and Tsukishima-san.

Watching their game, I somehow felt envious. My mind came back to the days where I started out. I had the same feeling. I enjoyed the feeling of exhaustion, as my warm sweat rolled down my body, the longing for water every time outs, the tingling sensation of the pain after the ball hit your palms.
