"So when is she coming?"
"In a few hours, I just need you to help me with something. I don't know what to do. I got a bunch of girl toys from the store and I'm going to go shopping with her to decorate her room but I feel like I should do something more."
"No, I was way underprepared when me and Toby got Charlie your going to be fine." I nod and take a deep breath trying to calm my nerves. "Where is Tierna?"
"She is at the away game? I know your about to pop any second now but at least keep up with your team's schedule." She rolls her eyes and shoves me playfully. "I have a baby brain I forget things."
"Is T going to finally move in or are you still making her live down the hall?" Alex questions.
"She's slowly moving in. When she gets back she's going to fully move in." She nods and there is a knock at the door. "Go get it." She shoos me towards the door.
I open it but it is not who I was expecting. "Tierna what are you doing here? You have a game against the Royals tomorrow."
"I'm flying out tonight but a certain someone said that you were stressing so instead of getting on my plane I stayed at my apartment and hid out there to surprise you." I smile and peck her lips before letting her in.
"Oh hi T did expect you here." I roll my eyes and hit Alex lightly with a pillow. "Don't rat me out anymore Lex."
"Fiiiiinnneee." There's another knock at the door and his time I'm met with a social worker and a little 6-year-old girl. The girl- her names Liliana- shyly waves and me and I invite them in.
"Ok, so I'm sure your aware of Liliana's condition elective mutism." I nod and she hands me a folder containing Liliana's birth certificate and other things like that. "Do you know sign language? That's how she communicates." (When Liliana speaks it's going to be in italics for sign language.)
"Yes, I do." She nods and I see Tierna sit on the ground talking to Liliana and it warms my heart. "We'll all the paperwork is done. I have to go now call me if you have any questions."
"I don't have any. It was nice meeting you." I say goodbye and she leaves. I go back to the living room and see Tierna doing push-ups with Liliana on her back and Alex making fun of how childish T is being.
"What's going on in here?" I say chuckling. "Nothing." I nod and pick Liliana up. "Do you want to see your room, Liliana?"
"Call my Lily please."
"Ok Lily. So it's not decorated yet but I was told you really like green so I already painted the walls and got you some toys. I was thinking tomorrow we could go shopping." She nods and I open the door with one hand while balancing Lily on my hip.
"Tada." She immediately runs over to the Legos I bought and jumps up and down in excitement. "I love these! I saw them on the tv all the time. Thank you!"
"I'm glad you like them." I smile and feel someone's arms wrap around my waist followed by a peck on the cheek. "Hi. She likes the thing I pick out?" I turn around and peck her lips. "Yep. But it also looks like she likes one of mine too."
"Mhm. But she likes more of the ones I picked out."
"No she likes all of them-" Alex interrupts me. "Stop trying to one-up each other you got her an iPad wait for her to notice she's going to freak and it will be the cutest thing ever."
Sure enough, after about 10 minutes of us 3 watching her from afar, she notices the 7th generation iPad that is sitting on the bed. Before she even touches it she comes over and jumps on me. When she has her head in the crook of her neck I stick my tongue out at T.
