"So many strong woman began as a broken girl." --- R. H. Sin.

Valerie Dornan
Ms Grand grins as she stands beside the blushing couple.
'See! Another one! Another one of my matches worked out!' she exclaims, and reluctantly lets them return to their seats. The boy gives her the finger when she's not looking, and the entire class erupts in immature snickers.
Ms Grand projects a page of the textbook on the board, and turns to face us, her gaze drifting directly to where Alaric is standing up at the back of the room.
'Can I be of assistance, Mr Aldrois?' she asks, perplexed. The class rotates on their chairs, and when all eyes are on him, Alaric glances at me, with what seems like nervousness. But then it's replaced with confidence.
'I'm going to change sheets,' he declares, before running his fingers through his hair. I hear a few girls sigh, and then there's silence.
Silence.
'Uh, OK, I suppose,' the teacher says in bewilderment.
And every eye follows him as he picks up his bag and laptop and takes a seat beside me.
'Not to be too nosy or anything, well, this is my class, so I can... Ok, can you just tell me if there's a reason for this sudden change? I distinctly remember you mentioning that Miss Dornan doesn't deserve a seat partner. And now you're... uh... what exactly are you doing?'
The whole class seems to be waiting for the answer.
Me included.
I sit stiffly in my seat, not daring to move in case I accidently brush against Alaric, and try to think of a good reason for his sudden seating change.
'I'm sitting next to my girlfriend. Do you have a problem with that?' Alaric suddenly says heatedly, and he sounds so sure of himself that even I gasp along with a few other overly dramatic people, Vincent and Sebastian included.
The only person who seems genuinely happy is Ms Grand, who smiles at me like a loon.
Only when the class ends, do I corner Alaric, and I'm not the only one. Vincent, Sebastian, Julian and Jayden join me in cornering the idiot against the lockers.
'Bro you could have told us!' Sebastian smacks the back of Alarics head.
'That's why you were giggling so much!' Vincent laughs, and Alaric glares at him and says 'I was NOT giggling you piece of-'
'Oye! This is supposed to be a mutual decision!' I say to him, and bite back a smile when I see his eyes softening as he turns to look at me.
Before he can speak, Jayden gently pushes me aside and snarls. 'You didnt even ask her?!'
And that was a very bad idea on his part, because the look of loathing Alaric returns to Jayden is enough to make him cower away behind Julian, all bravery forgotten.
'Ok so first of all, this is personal. It's between Chroma and I. So you guys can far out,' then he turns to look at me and frowns slightly. 'Can we talk somewhere?'
'You and I and this little guy are having dinner tonight. And you're gonna explain,' Sebastian says, grinning from ear to ear.
A few jokes from Vincent later, Julian and Jayden are nowhere to be seen, and I'm walking with Alaric to the parking lot.
'Have you been to the cemetery yet? Since you came back?' Alaric asks me when we're seated, and I glare at him.
'Don't change the topic.'
