HER HEELS CLICKED on the polished, marble floor.  Amy Santiago was chosen by the captain to visit and assess the situation in an overly fancy party held by the mafia. The party just ended and Amy has gained quite a handful of information after making small talk with some of the rather chatty guests.

Although her night was interesting, she was disappointed that she didn't get to see Jake at all tonight. After not seeing his goofy face across from her table for about five months killed her. She missed his jokes, she missed his teasing, she missed him.

He left at a rather awkward moment and ever since then, ever since his confession, she was feeling rather different about her relationship with Teddy. Nothing fun or lively has ever happened with him and Amy hated that he took each and every opportunity to talk about pilsners. Pilsners this, pilsner that. Jake's confession opened her eyes⎯⎯ she didn't like Teddy anymore but she was too much of a coward to break up with him.

Amy put that thought at the back of her head as the elevators door opened. She stepped inside and pressed the button for the ground floor. She saw her reflection in the mirror and sighed. She was wearing a sleeveless, tight black dress that ended a little bit over her knees. She was clutching a small black purse and her hair was left wavy, cascading down her back. Although if you look closely, you could see bags under her eyes. She had a tiresome night.

Amy held her breath as the doors opened. She gasped quietly at who she was looking at⎯⎯ Jake. Her eyes widened by a bit and she could see his did too. But before any of them could say anything, a much taller man with a scar under his right eye appeared behind him.

Both of them entered the elevator, the unknown man ( Amy started calling him Scarjoe in her mind now ) standing right between the old friends. Amy's heart was beating hard against her chest.

Jake is here in an elevator with her. The Jake she hasn't seen for months, the Jake she hasn't had contact with, the Jake she missed. She really wanted to talk to him and it made her furious that she couldn't. It would blow his cover.

She took a brief glance at him, he looked nothing like the Jake she knew all through her years in the precinct. This Jake looked more neat, serious and overall, a killjoy. He had kept an expressionless face and he stood tall and to be honest, she was a little bit terrified of him.

He was wearing a black tuxedo with a red tie. His hair was gelled back and he was wearing expensive leather shoes.

She began to panic mentally, what if he has changed? What if months in the mafia drove his childish, goofy side away? She hoped it didn't.

The elevator dinged and the heavy metal doors opened. Scarjoe hastily left  the elevator but not before nodding at Jake, "see you soon, Peralta."

"You too Seth," Jake nodded back. He looked at Amy for moment before he left the elevator.

AMY LET OUT a breath she didn't know she was holding. She had quickly left the elevator in confusion and disappointment. She was glad that she got to see Jake even if it was just for a moment and to hear his voice again. But she can't help but felt hurt when he didn't say anything⎯⎯ or even smiled at her.

She knew it could blow his cover and she mentally scolded herself for being so selfish. Jake was putting his life in danger for this mission, she couldn't just think about herself.

She left the building and quickened her pace as she walked to her car. She stopped walking, though, when she saw a silhouette of a person leaning on her car. Her mind couldn't help but think, what if it's one of the mafia?

She gathered up her courage and spoke in the most intimidating voice she could muster, "who are you?"

The man's whipped so he was looking at her. "Don't tell me you forgot about me, Ames."

Amy's eyes widened, she could recognise that voice everywhere. "Jake?"

"No, it's Holt," he joked.

Amy chuckled and rolled her eyes playfully. She walked closer to him so she was able to see his face again. This time, it wasn't serious but there was his usual goofy grin plastered on his face.

"Oh my god, you scared me!" she slapped his arm.

"That hurts, Santiago!" he feigned pain.

"Still a dramatic ass I see, Peralta," she scoffed as Jake winked.

Jake looked at her but before he said anything, Amy interrupted him, "I missed you," Amy blurted out, "the squad as well."

A smile crept itself onto Jake's face, "I miss you and the squad too, I just can't wait to get this over with."

"Me too, Jake," she smiled.

"I couldn't let you leave without saying something to you, it's been a while since I've seen a familiar face around here," Jake confessed.

"Yeah I was kinda weirded out when you looked like Holt back in the elevator," she laughed, Jake joining in. "Don't tell Holt, though," he grinned and Amy nodded in understanding.

"I should go, it's already risky and I don't want to get you into any sort of trouble," Jake said with a sad smile. Amy looked at him longingly, she wanted more time with him. Just enough to catch up.

"I hope you come back home soon," she returned the smile. Jake nodded before he started to walk away. Amy watched him as he walked off but was surprised when he turned around to face her, "and by the way, you look great," he winked and pointed finger guns at her before he was off. Gone again.

Amy chuckled softly, shaking her head. Still the same, old Peralta. She sighed, she knew this particular meet up will be replaying in her head for the rest of the night⎯⎯ or even week,  but she didn't mind.

Amy jumped in her car and drove off, smiling. Maybe tonight wasn't a complete bummer. All that she knew was that she will be counting down the days to his return.
