012. LIGHT AND BREEZY
so, screw just being colleagues, right?
🕸✨🌫🖤

SHE STUMBLED INTO her dark apartment as she reached for the light switch. Today has been quite a hard day for Amy Santiago. She had just 'ended' things with Jake and she didn't know exactly what to feel.

Obviously, she didn't want to end it but it seemed necessary since he was getting demoted because of their relationship. They tried. Light and breezy clearly didn't work since they both woke up naked next to each other the next day.

But breaking it off didn't settle well with her. She didn't know why. It was so much easier for the both of them to not be romantically involved with each other right now. With Holt being gone, and the Vulture taking command of their precinct, things aren't going well for the squad.

She sat on the couch as she placed her head in her hands, shaking her head.

She didn't want their relationship to end. Despite it being only a few days old, she's never felt happier. Every second spent with Jake Peralta was magical. He made everything interesting and she's angry at herself that she threw that opportunity out the window.

She wanted someone to talk to. Gina is a no-go, she would definitely laugh at her. Charles is basically fuelled by the idea that they're together now and besides, he doesn't particularly give a-star advices. Rosa would probably tell her to do something insane and even though she's close friends with Terry, she didn't want to mix him in this dilemma.

She sighed. Jake is the only one she could truly confide in. She trusts him more than others and he probably knows her more than she knows herself at times. But it's just weird talking about your relationship with the same person you broke it off with, right?

Or is it?

Amy didn't know what to do. She stood up and walked to her bedroom. On her way, she knocked over a framed picture of her and Jake after defeating the Vulture. She looked like a mess. Her eyes were red and her hair was basically a bird's nest from the tear gas. She was standing next to Jake who was holding a filled out evidence form from a perp which was proof of their victory of the vulture that day, flashing his usual goofy grin at the camera.

She realised now that the only person she wanted to talk about this to is Jake. She felt stupid for not noticing before but he was the one who really tried to make their relationship work. First and foremost, if it wouldn't be for him admitting to her that he liked her romantic-stylez as he would put it,  she would probably still be in a boring relationship with Teddy.

And she didn't want that for herself.

Granted, their first kiss was for an undercover operation but to Amy it was the most mind blowing five seconds of possibly, her life. And then came their first real kiss in the evidence room which he again initiated. He was then the one who came to her to discuss about them and where should they go on after that.

She realised now that he's the one taking all those steps, definitely bruising his pride, just so they could be together. But when things take a turn for the worst, she retreated. She was nothing more than a pathetic coward.

Isn't that what relationships are all about? When something beats you down, you solve it together? Get back stronger together? You're not supposed to run away and hide like a fucking wuss. You're supposed to jump back even better.

Amy was determined now. She finally realised that Jake had sacrificed all those things, he played his part. So now it's time to play her own.

She placed the picture down gently before rushing to grab her coat and car keys. She hopped into her car and drove all the way to Jake's apartment.

She scrambled out of the car and pressed the button for the 4th floor. Once the heavy metal doors opened, she skid her way through the hallway before she found herself standing in front of his door.

She mustered the last of her courage to bring her fist up to the door but before she could knock, the door swung open, scaring a disheveled Jake.

"Sorry! Sorry," Amy apologised hastily.

"No, no it's fine," Jake told her, nodding his head vigorously.

"I was home," she started, "And I wanted somebody to talk to about us."

Jake nodded his head, letting her know he was listening.

"And I realised that the only person I want to talk about that stuff is with you," she admitted.

Jake smiled warmly at her as she continued, "So, screw just being colleagues right?" she asked him, "Screw light and breezy?"

Jake chuckled, "definitely." Amy smiled at him but before she could say anything else, Charles came out behind Jake, grinning like a mad man.

"Guys we really did it," he said, looking like he could blow up in joy and excitement any second now.

"Oh, Charles is here," she pointed out, awkwardly.

Jake nodded his head in embarrassment, "Big time."
