JAKE LEFT THE precinct as quickly as he came. He was assigned on a case of what he love to call 'the buggy thug'. It was nothing too special, it was just another stolen car case, like any other he used to work on. Only he named this one.
Just as they arrived in the precinct, Holt called for him from his office, announcing that he had something urgent he needed to talk to him about. Jake being Jake, giddily strutted over to his office. About ten minutes later, he came out looking hyped and excited. He took no time walking over to Amy and spilling every detail of his mission to her before he left suddenly a few minutes later.
Amy wasn't too worried for him. Although he's practically classified as a man child he is still a grown man and can fend off for himself. He did his training and he's really good on the field, so there's absolutely nothing to worry about.
She went about her day and continued checking her paperwork for any errors when suddenly her phone rang, and it rang loud. All the heads in the precinct turned towards her and she smiled shyly as she answered the phone, putting it up to her ear, "This better be good, you just embarrassed me in front of everyone."
The person on the other end of the line was none other than her beloved boyfriend who was supposed to be paying attention to the mission but was now calling her instead, "Yeah I'll be quick."
"So what's up?" Amy urged him.
"Just calling to remind you that Kyle cancelled playing darts on us, how does pizza sound tonight?" he asked her.
Amy sucked her breath, "Sounds great." And with that, they both hung up as quickly as she answered and she immediately went over to his computer across her desk and started typing aggressively on his keyboard.
"Woah, woah, woah, careful girl, you gon' smash that thing," Gina commented loudly. Amy ignored her and continued typing away, her eyes fixed onto the screen.
Charles, who saw this exchange, found it quite strange that Amy had no comeback as she always had one and decided to roll his chair over to her, "All good Amy?"
"Yeah, yeah just checking something," she muttered.
"Why are you on Jake's computer?" Charles asked slowly.
"Like I said, I'm checking for something," she replied sternly.
Charles was about to say another thing when Amy interrupted him, "Bingpot! Gotcha now."
Charles looked over at her with confusion all over his face as Amy smiled shyly at him, "Sorry, I live with Jake and it just catches on."
"Oh, no need to brag!" Charles scoffed and Amy rolled her eyes playfully at her colleague.
Then she remembered. Jake.
She quickly gathered her things and rushed for the elevator, "Oh Charles, come with me. I'll explain on the way."
"Okay," he said, perplexed, "But we gotta brief the captain first."
"We don't have time!" Amy groaned. She looked around the bullpen and saw Terry coming in from the break room, "Terry! Can you please brief the captain for us? It's an emergency."
Amy pulled a confused Charles to the elevator and she quickly pressed the button for the first floor. Soon they were in the squad car, racing through the streets.
"Amy, I'd really appreciate it if you slow down and tell me what's going on," Charles told her.
"Jake's in danger, we need backup." She simply said, handing him a walkie talkie.
Charles widened his eyes and immediately called for backup as Amy continued driving as quickly as possible.
She stopped in front of a decent apartment building and around a minute later, backup arrived right after them. Amy briefed them a little bit, leaving unimportant details out as the policemen started to storm the place.
Amy and Charles hid behind the wall, "Keep an eye for a guy who's about 5'7, black hair, has a beard and tan skin," she told him and Charles nodded.
She was about to step out but a gust of wind flew past her and there she saw, the criminal making a run for it. Charles immediately followed him as Amy went around the apartment floor and through different hallways.
She stopped dead in her tracks, however, when she saw the criminal charging towards her. Out of instinct, she whipped out her baton and hit him on his knee as the guy doubled over and fell flat on the carpeted floor.
A panting Charles wasted no time in putting cuffs behind his back as the other officers took him away.
"Amy! Charles!" a voice behind them said. They both turn around to see Jake there, "Thank god you came! I swear he was about to shoot me with all the guns he has storing in there."

THE NINE NINE gathered around a small table in Shaws Bar for a celebratory drink. The 'buggy thug' has been captured and Jake is back, safe and sound.
"Hey Amy, how do you know Jake was in danger?" Rosa asked as Jake filled the squad in.
Apparently the guy's name was Tim Braile and he had been stealing cars this past year. But after observing his house, Jake found out he was also a smuggler of many illegal weapons and drugs.
"Yeah, wouldn't the guy have heard you call for backup?" Terry asked, scrunching his eyebrows.
"It's all thanks to Ames," Jake smiled at her sweetly.
"How do you mean?" Charles butted in.
"It happened a few months back, we were at Shaws and there was a guy who didn't pay for his drink, nothing special but he started to run out and the bartender was shouting at him. Jake and I were playing darts and god, he did something super reckless," Amy explained.
"Nah, super cool! I took a dart and threw it at the guy," he bragged.
"You did what?!" Holt asked in disbelief.
"Relax captain, it isn't like he got hurt. It just punctured the wall behind him, causing him to stop," Jake clarified.
"I don't get it," Terry admitted.
"It's basically a code word we use; darts. If any one of us is in trouble, the other would know," Amy simply put it.
"That's actually smart," Rosa confessed.
Jake and Amy beamed at her as she rolled her eyes playfully.
"I'd like to propose a toast," Holt said, raising his glass as the others followed suit, "To a successful arrest! Nine nine!"
"NINE NINE!"
