019. POST KIM
sometimes we just have to see the bigger picture🕸✨🌫🖤
JAKE KNEW WHAT he did wrong. Of course he did, he basically had his wrong doings pointed out to him by Captain Kim.
You see, the nine nine got invited to the new Captain's house that evening to bond and get to know each other better.
From his understanding, everyone was doing something different that night.
Charles, or Chuck is what he calls himself now, was busy being a bad boy with Rosa's leather jacket and was actually for once, getting some attention.
Terry was trying to hide from an ex-convict he put into prison who kept offering him some food with a sketchy smile.
Rosa and Gina didn't attend. Gina being mega famous now and Rosa having some family business out town, they both stayed out this event.
Holt and Jake were up to something that they would probably regret later on and Amy was trying to keep them out of trouble all night. That is, until she got distracted by another fellow organizer like her.
With Amy being out of the way, Jake and Holt initiated their plan. Sneak into Captain Kim's room to find whatever evidence they can that proves that she has been working with Wuntch this entire time.
Sounds easy, right?
It would've been if she didn't have a growling guard dog locked up on her room who unfortunately ran out and ripped apart the party downstairs.
Holt being Holt, always manages to slither out these uncomfortable situations he partook in saying he was 'going through something'. Worst part is, everyone believed him.
But Jake?
Oh, Jake was fucked.
He could tell the squad was immensely disappointed at his actions that night, even Boyle did and he always sided with Jake.
When he and Amy got home that night he winced as she glared at him. The entire ride home had been nothing but quiet. He hated it.
But he got to admit, he does deserve the silent treatment.
He should've listened to his wife after all, the all knowing and the responsible one.
Amy left and went up to their bedroom as Jake drank a full glass of water, something he rarely does. He then followed her up to their room and leaned on the doorway.
He knocked on their door, which was slightly opened. Amy looked up from her book and raised a tired eyebrow at her husband, "This is your room as well Jake, you don't have to knock."
"Well considering the situation, I'm not risking anything," he mumbled as he walked in quietly.
"You should've listened to me," she said, ignoring his last statement.
"I know I'm sorry, I just- I don't know," he said. For once in years, Jake Peralta was speechless.
"So should I sleep in the guest room tonight?" he asked her with a serious tone.
"What why?" Amy asked, genuinely confused.
"Well I am on trouble," he stated. "Wrecking Kim's house and all."
"Jake you don't have to," she sighed, putting her book down on her lap.
"For real?"
"Yes. Besides, I kind of get where you're coming from with this whole prove her wrong thing."
"Wait," he shook his head, "What?"
"Look I get it," Amy started, "Holt's like a father to you."
Jake scoffed at that, even though it was true, he would never admit to that. Nevertheless, he let Amy continue.
"He got demoted and got replaced by some captain you didn't know. It's been hard on the squad, but that doesn't mean we should act like animals. We still have to respect our superior officers," she explained in a soft voice.
"Yeah, you're right." he apologised.
"I understand you're going through something, but don't let your pride get in the way of a truly good captain for our precinct, yeah? We don't want to get stuck with another captain like the Vulture again, now do we?"
Jake chuckled softly, "Definitely not."
"Good, go change and come straight to bed, I'm cold," Amy smirked.
"Oh god Ames, where would I be without you?" he shook his head with a small smile.
"Lost," she answered vaguely.
Jake chuckled as he quickly changed into his old, worn out NYPD shirt and some shorts before laying next to his beloved wife, hugging her close.
"Night Ames."
"Night Jake."
