017. TEMPT ME WITH A BOOKSTORE
loneliness is lack of purpose, not company

AMY WOKE UP in a mess of tangled sheets. She slowly opened her eyes as they welcomed the warm rays of the sun in. She sat up and let out a huge yawn as she rubbed the sleep away from her eyes.

She looked around her quaint room. It had a homy atmosphere to it and she loved it. She could see her cat in which she took the liberty in naming it Ginger after the colour of its soft orange fur.

She looked at Ginger with curiosity, no matter how hard she tried, she never seemed to be able to recall where she got him from. It was a present perhaps? Or maybe just bought it from the local pet store. All she knew was that he has been around for years.

She smiled as she slipped on her warm slippers and made her way to the kitchen. She started boiling water in a kettle and prepared a mug for a cup of warm morning tea.

She then exited the kitchen and moved into a much bigger room. The only part of her 'house' that was open to the public, her library, you could say.

Amy owned a nice little bookstore. It had a warm and welcoming atmosphere and it felt so homy and comforting. She treasured her store and she made sure it was well kept. Everyday, customers would come in and out, either just to read or to buy a book.

She had a few usual customers but never bothered to befriend them. Amy thought back, she hasn't seen her friends for ages. She considered the nine nine as a part of her family, her second home. But ever since she moved to open a bookstore, they left one by one until none of them visited her anymore. The worst part: no one kept contact. It was as if her old life, part of her, was gone forever.

Amy could never find a good reason to leave her humble home so she there she stayed. She didn't know when the last time she went out was but she knew it has been long. It has also been raining these couple of⎯⎯ gee she didn't even know. Weeks? Months maybe?

Point is, it has been raining hard for a really long time. Another reason to just stay in and relax by the crackling fire, cuddled up in a soft blanket with a good book. Honestly? She wouldn't trade now for the world. Her bookstore had everything for her. Her bedroom, the kitchen, bathroom and her public library. Not to mention, she does have Ginger as her companion all this time.

Amy sat down on her grand library desk situated at the centre of her bookstore. It was multi functional and she loved it. It was a nice place where people could check their books out and it was also a comfortable place where she can relax and enjoy a good read or two.

She picked up her book from yesterday and began where she left off. She was currently reading Pride and Prejudice again for what might be the fiftieth time, but she didn't mind. It was an amazing book with a jaw dropping plot and it checked off every box in her mental good book features list.
