"How're you holding up?" I asked Enzo who was currently resting in his tent after last night when I accidentally stabbed him and had to stitch him up without any anesthesia.
I gave him medication and some pain relievers to make him feel better, but after what he just went through, he needed a lot of rest.
"I'm good. Just feeling kinda hot." He tells me.
"That's expected. Anyways, I got you food and drinks. Here." I sat beside him as he sat up, gladly taking the fresh cooked burgers and a bottle of water.
"You're not mad at me are you?" I asked him as he ate silently.
"Course not dude. It was mainly my fault. Besides, I'd have a killer scar now." He chuckles and I breathe out a breath I didn't know I was holding.
"Chill out Lex. I'm just tired, that's why I'm quiet." He says.
I can't let my best friend get mad at me again like last time.
"Well, you need fresh air. Come on out once you're done. You need it alright?" I tell him before going out of his tent.
"How is he?" Keith asked and I reassured her that he was doing well and just needed to rest for a while.
"God, it's too hot today." Madds complained and I agreed.
I was feeling way too sticky as there was too much humidity in the air right now.
"Hey, can we take a swim on the lake we went to yesterday?" They suggest.
"Yeah of course. You guys go ahead I'll join you soon." Ares answers as the others woops and goes back to their tents, probably to change into their bathing suits.
"Good morning." Ares greets me, giving me his usual forehead kisses and I return it by giving him one on his cheeks.
"You up for a swim?" He asked.
"A chance to see you shirtless? I'm in." I teased and he chuckled, pulling me back to our tent so we could change.
"Turn around Ares." I told him as he only waits for me to strip out of my clothes.
"I've seen you naked before so..." God, this man.
"Besides, you have a cast on... let me help you change..." He teases, walking up to me and giving me light kisses on my cheeks and down to my neck as he slowly unbuttoned my shirt.
"Ares..." I warn and he only groans out as a response, fully removing my top as the gush of cold air hits my skin, making me shiver.
His warm hands roamed my body as he buried his head on my neck.
"God, I love you. More than just your naked body." He doesn't stop teasing me so I had to pull from the kiss.
"Ares, as much as I want to get dirty with you, I'd much rather soak my body in water rather than sweat." He chuckles and shakes his head off before giving me one last kiss and changes into swim shorts.
"Can you help me?" I asked him as I struggled to put on the tight one piece with only one hand available.
He ties a knot behind as I adjusted the pads on the front.
"Alright, you're ready?" He asked and I nodded.
"Wear this over." He passes me his black shirt.
"Uh, why?" I asked.
"Look, there's guys out there that I don't know how they think. Also I know how Matthew's brain works." He explained.
"What do you mean?"
"Matthew's the town's playboy. He's a college professor yes, but when a girl catches his attention, he'd be snaking her in." Ares says, putting the shirt on me himself.
"He won't snake me in."
"Oh I know you won't let that happen and neither will I, but I don't like the way he's looking at you like you're a package waiting for him to open you up." I chuckled at him and we went out of the tent with Ares' shirt being an oversized one on me.
"Enz, you coming?" I asked and he nodded.
"Yeah duh. I need a swim." He said and I scolded him.
"No. You are not going to let any part of your skin get wet by that lake. The bacteria that lakes have can infect your injury dumbass." I told him and he rolled his eyes.
"Whatever doctor Sawyers." He mocks and Ares chuckle.
"Come on. The rest went ahead." Ares put his arm over my shoulder and the three of us walked to the lake.
Once the beautiful lake comes into view, some of which, such as Nicole and Emma, were sunbathing under the heat of the sun. While Alec and the others were currently competing against each other on who would reach the other side first.
By the end of the dock were the backs of Madds and Matthew. Madds told me how she likes the guy, and with what Ares just said, I need to talk with her.
"I need to warn Madds..." I told Ares and he nodded.
"Yeah you should."
"Maybe later. For the meantime, let's enjoy the water!" I exclaimed as I removed the shirt Ares made me wear and pulled him to the water.
"Oh God! I love this." I say as I embrace the ice cold water hugging my body.
"It's freaking cold!" Ares complains and I splash water directly on his face.
"Alex..." He warns and I started swimming away from him, because believe me when I say that it's a struggle to paddle with only one arm.
I looked back only to see Ares nowhere. I tried looking for him when I felt movements beneath my leg and then I felt a pull on my leg, pulling me below.
I tried to scream but whoever pulled me was quick. I opened my eyes below only to see a smirking Ares, so I swam up to him and tried my hardest to kick him further.
I swam back up for air to see him coughing.
"Yeah, you deserve that you doofus."
