Chapter 22

Kaito's POV

Man this is so frustrating 😩 I was scratching my head while standing on a hot day. Good thing I wasn't burning cause Hua lend me some sun block lotion when we were at the room. It was kinda awkward for me. We slept together at the bed without a word. He hasn't talked about it. Earlier he knew that it'll will be a hot day so he offered me some lotion. I guessed he was drunk that night too that's why he was acting as if nothing happened.

I was sweating like crazy. I tried to asked some of the girls, my acquaintances, to pair up with me but they declined. They said that they want to plant the tree with their boyfriends or with their friends so I back off. Everyone else were starting to dig their hole and I was just standing. There were no more trees available to plant and each pair already have one.  I don't want to draw people's attention so I'm gonna lay low a bit, what I mean by lay low is to go back to my comfort zone.

When I was about to leave I felt a freezing object that touched my nape. I was surprised so I immediately turn around to see what it was. It was Sato and he was holding a cold can coke. "Here" he said as he looked at me as if we're close. I grabbed the coke cause it was freaking hot. I noticed that beside him was a redwood tree and two small shovels. "Thank you" I said then I opened the coke and drank it. MAN IT WAS SOOO GOOD🤩🤩
I feel so refreshed. The spirit of the coke goes through my throat even the small splashes from the carbonated chemicals from the coke smells good.

As I turn around and walked away Sato grabbed my shoulder. "Wait! Pair up with me" He said.
I was shocked at that moment cause he offered me such thing but then as if I have a choice. I guessed he doesn't have a partner yet. What am I gonna do? I would like to participate in tree planting cause nature was closed to me but I can't find any partner and even trees were unavailable so this will do. I was so stressed at that moment. I nodded to Sato then he pointed a place for us to dig in. "That place" He pointed to an empty slot. The place that he choosed was a bit distance from everyone. They were all piled up in a slot, planting their trees while Sato choosed a desolate spot. "Why here?" I said as we come close to the spot where he pointed at.

"There's a good amount of sunlight and it will grow healthy cause it has no one to share its nourishment that it can get from the soil" He said. I was impressed how he analyzed the situation and how he knew a lot about plants. "Wow  impressive" I said then I clapped at him. He bowed down like a royal prince in a ball. "Thank you sir" He said with an accent of a royal British from late centuries. I grin a bit, then he smiled at me. I sat down to the ground to have a better view and precision , with my butt touching the ground. I don't want to cut the roots by accident.  "Wait! Why are you sitting on the ground?" He was being histerical

"It's dirty!" Worriedly he said. "So?" I said. "You'll get sick!" He said. "Ugh! Worried much?" I was getting annoyed. "Stand!" he said. "Why?" I said. Actually I'm refusing him. He looked around and ran. I think he was looking for something. Why do you even care? 🙄 While he was gone I was separating the rocks and pebbles from the soil because we don't want those things to hinder the growth of this tree. After a while Sato came with a sack cloth. He grabbed me by the arm forcing me to stand then he placed the sack cloth and sat down.

"Come now, sit" He said. So I sat on the sack cloth and separate the pebbles and the rocks from the soil. Sato pulled his sleeves up to his shoulder, his muscles were showing up. What a show off 😒
He grabbed the tree and used a shovel to remove the tree from its pot. Sato was gentle in separating the tree from a plastic pot. He pulled the roots slowly cause he knew that the roots are delicate.

While he was doing that I was done, so I started digging up. I used the shovel to dig the top layer.
"That's not big enough or deep enough" Sato said. I was oblivious of what he said. I looked at Sato and he was sweating a lot. His shirt was wet showing his large chest as if he was doing a muscle training.

Then I vividly remembered something similar but I can't figured it out. My eyes were starting to dim and I can't feel my surroundings as if I'm weakened. "Are you OK?" Sato said worriedly. "I'll dig and you shade yourself firsts. It might be the heat" He said
So I shade myself from the sun by the shadows of the tree nearby while looking at Sato. I was getting well then I noticed the tree was having a big and broad roots. Now I know why Sato said that it was not big enough or deep enough. Sato stood up as he was soaked in sweat, he grabbed a big shovel and he dug up a big hole. His veins was showing. Then he planted the tree and watered it.

As soon as he finished it up he walked towards me. I was sitting at the shade when suddenly the wind blew and my eye got dirt. It stings! I was blinking my eyes to think that it will be gone but no it wasn't. It was stingy and painful and I can't touched my eyes cause my hands are full of dirt. Sato touched my eyes and opened it, he was wearing a pair of gloves so that's why his hands were clean. He blew in to my eyes then it's gone

When I was about to see clearly suddenly a tear drops in my eye. I saw Sato was blushing and I can't bare to think of why does he blushing?

I took my phone to see my eyes whether it was getting red or not but then I saw my eyes as if I was crying. It was a bit swollen and pinkish.
